Gorgeous! Congratulations and happy birthday as well!

Mark is great to work with and what customer service to drive the ring to you.

Re: What to do with smoky quartz brooch?

It's a beautiful brooch -- what a gorgeous way to remember your grandmother. Are there any markings on the back? There's a hallmark that looks like a police officer-shaped badge. It has something that looks like F1 in fancy writing and then 14k below it. No other markings. My grandfather was a lieu...

Re: What to do with smoky quartz brooch?

I am impressed by how sharp all the facet junctions are, since it is an older piece that has been used and quartz isn't the hardest stuff around. That's why I'm wondering if it's fake. It does have two lines that look like scratches but I can't feel any ridges with my fingers. I'm pretty sure it wa...

What to do with smoky quartz brooch?

This piece came from my grandmother (who's long been deceased). It's a brooch that doubles as a pendant, but would be incredibly heavy to wear as such. 1. Is it worth getting appraised to see if it's real? 2. Is it normal to have such a large window? I've worn it as a brooch on a wool coat for many ...

Re: Ugly suspicions can be so hurtful.

I have to wonder if the people who saying "get over it" are themselves adopted or adoptive parents. I am genuinely curious! I am both a Korean adoptee and an adoptive parent to a Korean child- married to a white man and also parent to a bio hapa. I work on human trafficking and wrongful c...

Re: August Vintage Diamond & Alexandrite Engagement Ring

Congratulations- it's beautiful! Glad to see Quest hit another one out of the park (I've been going to them since 2003).
Re: Victor Canera cathedral Emilya is here!

Thanks again!

I have a quote from Victor for the matching band and am waiting to hear about his engraved one. The pave is perfection so I can only imagine what a full eternity pave band from him is like.

Re: Mom's With 2 or more under 5 - what ring do you wear?

Congratulations, Circe!

Mine are a little older than what you asked for (4 and 6), but I wore a three stone trellis and a channel set band all the time with no issues. I recently switched to a halo so not sure how durable that would've been had I owned it when the kids were younger.

Re: Victor Canera cathedral Emilya is here!

Love your version of the Emilya! What kind of wedding band will you be wearing next to it? Thanks, everyone! I'm definitely enjoying wearing it in all sorts of places! Mom2boys, I'm still deciding what to do about the wedding band. My original wedding band is quite sentimental to me, so if at all p...

Victor Canera cathedral Emilya is here!

At the start of the 4th week after I sent my stone to Victor Canera, he finished the ring! So fast! I was eating out with my family when I got the email it was done; good thing I was already sitting down or else I might've fallen over. I opted for a cathedral shank with a diamondless donut so I coul...

Re: Help this gal make pierogi dough

My in-laws are Ukrainian and their recipe is definitely of the unwritten, just use some of each and you'll know when it feels right variety. It's been a while since I made pierogi with them but I seem to remember the dough they make is just flour, salt, egg, and maybe a little water? It's very, ver...

Re: Whats with Vatche U113 prices

The one from Since 1910 is quoted for white gold; if you want platinum, add $200 to bring it to $1900.

Re: textured yellow gold band stacker - any vendors recommen

I had a similar experience as SB- I've contacted them to make a ring out of my 21k necklace and they were very responsive and nice. I didn't end up doing it, but am still considering it in the future.

Re: My roller coaster upgrade continues..soon to be done!

Glad your partner is doing better- scary times!

Can you elaborate a little more about what made the Emilya not a good fit for your lifestyle? Victor has my stone now, also for an Emilya (but with cathedral shoulders) and reading your post has me a little nervous!

Re: Do men hit on you?

Almost never.

I did go through a period where I was hit on every day, multiple times...because I volunteered in a maximum security English prison and had a captive audience, so to speak. That was an interesting year.

Re: Another happy Canera buy - 1.73 H&A round plat split sha

Wow, it's gorgeous! Congratulations on your engagement and on a beautiful ring. I have my own stone with Victor and am excited to see what he creates.

What ring size is your fiancee?
Re: VC Emilya- does it need to be sized smaller?

Thanks! In addition to the new setting, I also ended up with a mini-upgrade of a 1.35 G SI2 GIA triple excellent (.6 on the HCA).

I wish I could take better pics but an iPhone is as good as it's getting.

VC Emilya- does it need to be sized smaller?

So I'm getting an Emilya (very excited!), but as I wait for my stone to make it there, I'm wondering about sizing. I know the shanks tend to be thin, like around 1.8mm. I have a 1.8mm shank ring that is in a size 4. I actually wear a 3.75 but had a mini freakout and asked the ring to be sized up a l...

Re: Books/tips on strong-willed kids?

Posting kind of late here, but my 4 year old is very strong-willed (whereas my 6 year old is so compliant and easygoing). I've started reading the Kazdin Method for Parenting Defiant Children and like it very much. Your child is probably too young to start following the methods, but if he's still st...

Re: Setting Remorse?

This is a timely question for me, as I'm about to send my stone off to VC for its final home. I debated spending the money instead on upgrading the stone (and I did do a mini upgrade of one grade better color, slightly bigger in size, and most importantly, an upgrade in cut quality), but in the end,...
