Re: Wanting but Waiting...

I'm dipping my toe back into the PS waters after a long absence...we're planning to start trying in May for a LO. :o Until then, I will just keep pinning nursery ideas and taking advantage of my freedom. :P

Re: How long have you been married? Compared to Upgrade/Rese

Been married for 2 years now and I haven't upgraded. My e-ring is a .33 carat white gold solitaire that was K's grandmother's ering. My w-band has 3 tiny little diamonds in it and is also from the 30s-40s. I know that my set is tiny, especially by PS standards, but it also kind of suits me. I'm not ...

Re: How old were you...

I was 26, DH was 32. Celebrating 2 years next month! My parents started dating when they were 27 and 24, got married when they were 39 and 36, and in August will be celebrating 27 years of marriage and 39 years of being together! They're still as madly in love as ever.

Re: nowadays...what are the "chick magnet" cars?

I think Audis are awesome so I'm loving all the pictures on this thread! When I met my husband he was driving a silver S4 and that was a really fun car. The car that would really turn my head on the street, though, is a fully restored Jaguar E Type Series 1 (although I'd settle for a Series 2!). Tha...

Re: Did anyone see the eclipse?

I wish! We were camping and were hoping for clear skies but instead it was full cloud cover. Noticed that it got a little darker, but it wasn't super noticeable. Boo!

So jealous of those who got to see it!

Re: Quick grammar question - Who/Whom

Auuuuugh, aauuuuuuuuugh, aaaauuuuuuuuugh!!! Not the who/whom question, anything but that. I've been in journalism for the better part of 32 years and I've known one, count her, one person with a grasp on it. She retired and left the newsroom to flounder. My personal gripes are "is currently&qu...

Re: Quick grammar question - Who/Whom

In these cases, I always do the "is him (or her) or he (or she) more appropriate?" thing. If it's him/her, whom is appropriate, if it's he/she, who is appropriate. So in this case: Suzie explained that her mother, WHO/WHOM she identified as Mary Adams, was verbally and physically abusive t...

Re: nowadays...what are the basic wedding rules?

My parents told my sisters and I that they were giving us each a certain amount of money that we could use to help pay for a wedding or just get when we so chose. We used that sum to pay for around half of our (not extravagant) wedding and we paid for the other half. We didn't expect it and found it...

Re: Anyone have W&S (William and Sonoma) whiteware?

We also have the blue banded Apilco and love it! Haven't had any issues with the shape of the plates, although we did have one of the salad plates crack in the microwave. Other than that, it has been great.

Re: Etiquette Check [wedding invite]

I totally and completely believe this is a case of guys not communicating. She asked him for his list of friends/family and their addresses. He gives her a list of the groomsmen and their addresses. If they aren't known to be married by the bride, then she probably didn't give the list a second tho...

Re: What's the AVERAGE price of wine you drink in your home?

If we're talking retail price, I'd say anywhere between $20 and $50 depending on variety, usually averaging in the $30-$40 range. However, because I work in the wine industry, I don't actually pay that. I end up paying $15-35 for most of the wine I buy and I also take home a lot of free wine. The mo...

Re: How much was your wedding dress?

Everyone looks so gorgeous in their pictures! My dress was ~$1100 including alterations. It was 100% silk and made by a local designer. I loved it and loved the way I looked in it, especially since it didn't require any special undergarments except a strapless bra. It was super comfortable. http://w...

Re: Ladies - Did you change your last name?

Hey, a question that's been on my mind lately ... what're those of you who've hyphenated or who have different last names planning to do about the kids? I figure if we have kids they will get the hyphenated name and once they are adults they can choose to keep one name or the other or both. The (ep...

Re: Ladies - Did you change your last name?

When we got married, we were sort of torn on this. My husband was supportive of whatever I wanted to do, but at the same time he thought it was important for us to have the same name. We looked into combining our surnames and a couple of other options but ended up both hyphenating our names to MyLas...

Re: are you the favored child of the family?

We still joke about it, but the reality is that my parents love my sisters and I p...

Re: Ladies- How long does your makeup routine take you?

I skip makeup most days, but if I'm wearing it it takes about a minute or two. I do eyebrows, a little mascara, and maybe a sweep of blush or some lipstick. If I have any problem spots I'll put on a touch of concealer.

Re: what is the SQ footage of your current home?

Ours is ~1600 square feet, plus an additional 700 feet of unfinished daylight basement. It's a 1923 2 story craftsman and we love it, although when we bought it 2.5 years ago we didn't think the market would keep dropping.

Re: how many of you girls know how to play the piano?

I play piano--started when I was 4 or 5. I did mostly classical stuff growing up then branched out into some jazz in college. After I graduated I played keyboard in a rock band for a while but these days I just play for fun a few hours a week.
