Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I had my 32wk checkup this morning. Belly is measuring ahead at 35wks (I'm not surprised), everything else looks good. I get another US when I go back in 2 weeks. They want to check growth as well as see how baby girl and the fibroids are positioned.

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I do find the colace works as a softener for me. I haven't tried it to relieve constipation that has already taken hold, but both after my surgery last year and now I've been able to tell a difference. It's not as strong an effect as the miralax, but I think right now the miralax would be too much a...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Evergreen, I feel your pain (quite literally), but I made myself a snoogle-ish body pillow and it has made a HUGE difference in my ability to sleep. I'm comfortable enough that I usually don't wake up needing to change position until I also need to use the bathroom. In those cases, I extricate mysel...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

It's been a couple of weeks of quiet in here... how is everyone doing? I've gained a ridiculous amount of weight (10-15lbs) over the last 3 weeks, but my doc doesn't seem concerned and keeps telling me to not stress about the scale. I'm 32 weeks tomorrow and up 37lbs overall. I'm not stressing about...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Awesome. Thanks for the tip on the brush/rack set, that looks pretty handy. I have another set of oxo cleaning brushes that could probably get to all the nooks and crannies, but they're not really compact or portable (and also get used for things that probably shouldn't get mixed with breast pump st...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Thanks, BabyM. AHL, do you have the two-piece medela connectors (the ones sold to make it easy to change/choose your flange size) for your bottles, so the pumpin pals push straight into the connector instead of the Medela flange/funnel, or do you shove the pumpin pals into the funnels of the medela ...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Thanks, AHL. I've read and watched videos and think I've gotten a decent idea of what a good fit is, how your nipple size can swell during pumping, that fit also depends on tissue elasticity, etc. I was just looking at Medela's size chart that says what size to try first based on the diameter at the...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Ok, so my pump came yesterday (really fast shipping!), and I have a TMI type question for the BTDT mammas. How much did your nipple size change from early third trimester through actually nursing/pumping regularly? Right now I think the 24mm flanges are probably too big for me. It is tempting to go ...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Woot! Insurance pays 100% for the Spectra S2 and it was an $80 upgrade to get the S1. I went with the S1 to get the battery, because while it might weigh more, the last thing I wanted was to regret NOT getting it when I inevitably found myself desperately needing to pump and unable to find a plug. T...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Thanks, AHL!! Yes, all of those things pretty closely match what I've read about the Spectra pumps. I've been considering the S1 over the S2 (has the rechargeable battery), because I haven't been able to confirm yet whether or not I'll always have access to an outlet at work. The flanges always seem...

AMC, Cooper is a cutie-pie, and definitely the spitting image of his big brother! Bobbin, you're a real trooper, making it so far past your due date with that incredibly unhappy ute of yours. How wonderful that you were able to achieve the birth experience you really wanted, and with a 10lb babe no ...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Evergreen, for some things we've also closed our eyes to products not making it to all the lists (e.g. crib mattress), but for some other things I quickly realized I needed to broaden my search if I was going to find something that was best for us (like the diaper bag). Between the mini and the GT, ...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Evergreen, we've actually been referencing babygearlab and the baby bargains book quite a bit! We found both pretty early on - I forgot to mention them before, so I'm glad you brought them up. They're both great resources, although we're finding they can be frustrating because they don't consider AL...

Re: Let's talk baby names

Good luck amc!! I don't know how well this might work if you just can't decide what feels best, but I once had a vendor play a game with me when I couldn't pick between 2-3 things. He suddenly says "what if I said you have 5 seconds to pick, or you can't have ANY of them? 5...4...3..." Alt...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Blingbunny, I hope the friable cervix doesn't turn out to be a constant source of unnecessary worry - from what I understand it will likely mean some bleeding or spotting, which are always a bit scary to see when pregnant, but by itself I haven't heard that a friable cervix during pregnancy is a big...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Yikes on the fainting! Have you talked to your OB about it yet? I'm curious what he/she thinks it could be. It took too long and way too many calls from my doc's office to the imaging center to get my US report sent back, but I finally heard the results yesterday. They're saying I have moderate hydr...

Thanks for the blog link, Evergreen! I will have to check it out. You are so slim that I'm sure once your bump really pops it will be super obvious to any stranger. But yes, I can see what you mean that right now even a trained eye might have trouble picking it up. My anatomy scan is scheduled for J...

Awww, thanks, but you look great, amc! I really think people mix up "looks pregnant enough that I'm SURE she is pregnant and I can safely ask about it" with "that's what 8-9 months looks like". So far I haven't had too many funny looks/comments when I've said "due Nov 15th&q...
