Re: Explaining natural disasters to little kids
Thanks for those links Jane. It helps me understand. Sounds like support and comfort is much more important than anything you say. |

Re: Explaining natural disasters to little kids
I agree. It's a tough place to be, trying to explain a disaster to children. I don't think would be tough at all to just tell the truth. "Susie, sometimes bad things just happen. It is natural to wonder why but some questions just don't have answers." That's all I'd say, the truth ... Wha... |

Explaining natural disasters to little kids
My heart goes out to all of the affected people affected by the tornados. I heard of one parent on CNN asking, 'How do we explain this to our children?' That got me thinking ... what's to explain? Bad things just happen sometimes. Do parents tell their kids nothing bad will ever happen? Yes, it's a ... |

Re: Does anyone have a cover for your car?
Kenny, you raise an interesting point about washing it… I only have a regular sized washer in my apartment. Did you have access to something larger (like a commercial washer) or did your cover fit in just a normal washer? I took it to a laundromat and put it in their heavy duty machine. Wet heavy g... |

Re: Splitting migraine for 3 days straight
Sorry you're suffering. I used to get them many years ago and reducing stimulation to the eyes and hears helped. Turn off the lights. During daylight use dark curtains/shades. Have everyone in the house stay quiet. Sleep as much as possible. That's what worked for me. Also catching them early was im... |

Re: Does anyone have a cover for your car?
I used to have a nice car cover of 100% cotton but it was important to let it dry when wet from rain or dew. If you wadded it up in the morning and stored it wet for a long time it could easily mildew. Still, I preferred 100% cotton since it was soft. Granted I live where it rarely rains, and cotton... |

Re: When the husband cheats it's the wife's fault
IMO all, yes all, men are horndogs and instinctively want to have sex with a zillion woman a day. In prehistoric times those who did had many more kids per lifetime than the monogamous men. Once I heard that humans are nothing more than DNA's way of making more DNA. We are merely DNA's DNA-making to... |

Re: perceived size of diamond vs perceived size of sapphire?
I'll admit Kenny, I'm LOLing over here. He said family diamond or sapphire (light blue perhaps), and you went straight to colored diamonds? :naughty: Oh GMAB. I don't barge into sapphire-only threads and scream 'GET AN FCD!". What I posted was reasonable given his post. Read the OP again. He s... |

Re: perceived size of diamond vs perceived size of sapphire?
This is tricky because we are dealing with two separate things that influence perceived size. 1. Two materials that have different density. 2. Cut matters too. Deep stones face up small for their weight, and shallow ones face up large for their weight. Diamond has a specific gravity of 3.52 and sapp... |

Re: perceived size of diamond vs perceived size of sapphire?
Sounds like you like diamond, but are considering a sapphire for the body color. Have you considered a fancy colored diamond in a lighter shade? Lighter yellows are one of the most affordable of the hues that colored diamonds come in, while I've heard a nice pure clean yellow sapphire is not common.... |

When the husband cheats it's the wife's fault
“Males have a tendency to wander a little bit. I'm suspicious that there is a process going on in which PS discussions solidifies things facts that are not facts. Re: Fair pricing for my trade-in
"Fair" is a dangerous word full of pitfalls and misunderstandings. There is one price for a 'new' diamond, for sale in a fancy jeweler on Fifth Ave. in Manhattan NY. The exact same diamond has a much lower price when I offer to sell it to a pawn shop in Detroit MI. The difference might be ... |

Re: FCD Experts, need your opinion re this Vivid Orange Yell
I am a clarity snob. Unlike the majority of PS members I am happy to pay much more for VVS diamonds when available. I personally try to avoid feathers, if possible.
