It's odd that the GIA didn't catch the glow...I always thought fluorescence either is or is not - but perhaps it is subject to interpretation in the way that clarity grades are. I would think that if it truly has minor fluorescence that it would be marked as "faint". Fluorescence is cool. I look at my settings under black light all the time to find the glowing stones. |

Can you see the inclusion with the naked eye? If so, I say pass on the stone switch. If you can't see it, and knowing that it's there won't bother you (mind clean) then switch. I would run far and fast from any jeweler who said that GIA is better than AGS. Both are good, but AGS provides more info about cut than GIA. I am partial to AGS diamonds; I have two. |

I have a pear diamond and in my opinion the shape and cut of the stone is the most important thing to assess - by eye. When I say shape, I mean is the stone wide/fat or narrow/skinny, are the "shoulders" of the pear nicely rounded or are they squared off? Jessica Simpson's first engagement... |

I'm assuming that your friend the jeweler told you that the lack of fluorescence is the key to finding a beautiful stone. This is nonsense. Many many posters here prefer stones with fluoro and find it to be a very cool characteristic of the diamond. BM vendors like to tell their clients that fluore... |

Thanks! I don't really know. I just liked the design. My sister rides; she would probably call them stirrups. I was just lucky that I liked the setting and it fit perfectly. Just one of those things.. |

I can't believe I forgot to post the color of my pear. Duh - kind of hard to compare when you don't know what you're comparing to! It's an H color, VS2 2.38ct. The smaller stones around it are G/H. You don't see many pears around these days...I like being different. Call my new diamond a 30th annive... |
