Re: An old stone for an old girl - 4.65 antique cushion

Love the stone, love the setting, congratulations. I know I have been a major OWD pusher starting with Kim N's OEC search thread, but he is definitely delivering! Amazing find/deal!

Re: jewelry to symbolize your children?

Sorry I don't have anything yet, but sometime in the future I plan on having a four-stone ring made in honor of our four kids. It will probably be old european cut stones of equal size. Your princess ering that you are interested in haloing, would that be part of the ring to symbolize your kids? Or ...

Re: OEC color comparison to real life objects

I know there are many other great pictures out there but they're all scattered about, so if anyone else wants to share their non-scientific color comparisons to this thread please feel free to!

Also, if this is better placed in RT, sorry and feel free to move :)

OEC color comparison to real life objects

When I was doing obsessive PS research on OECs, one of my big questions was how low in color to go and I ran across a pic on my computer the other day that I thought was a good color "comparison" - so I thought I would post it here. I know it is really hard to accurately reflect real life ...

Re: What's Old Is New! My 3.33 K SI2 OEC.

I need a Life Alert button handy! Feeling lucky my heart hasn't exploded out of my chest after those shots. Hello Prom Queen! (I still like little shy Yalie but don't have the cash to make her mine.) OWD FTW! Still am enjoying my tiny widdle bezeled babies from them. Have fun w/the PSers who gettah...

Re: Antique Diamond Guide

Wow, I'd love to take a crack at this! But being a trade member, not sure if you guys prefer that type of input, or if you're leaning more towards input from other consumers (best practices, etc.) I'm traveling this weekend, but perhaps this is something I'll want to work on in the coming weeks any...

PS Journal/Articles - can you tag the posts for searches?

I think it would be a good idea to tag the professional articles according to topics discussed. They do have general categories in the pull down menu thingy, but more specific tags would be very helpful - so one doesn't need to look through all of them for relevance. Also, it looks like someone shou...
Re: Antique Diamond Guide

This goes along with Yssie's undesirable "mushiness" factor to avoid when looking at OECs and also talks about the large flashes of light in an OEC vs the splintery ones of an MRB: http://www.pricescope.com/forum/rockytalky/strmrdr-virtual-facets-on-oec-t91696.html And even though this art...

Found a helpful post on a characteristic that old cut stones can often have - chips/nicks in the girdle or a bruted girdle:

Re: My first post and question!

I think you'd have something custom fabricated. But I don't think any reputable jeweler will copy that design exactly, they can make something more reminiscent of the design. From perusing rings posted here on PS, I would suggest trying http://www.rdgnz.com/index.html (New Zealand) http://artofplati...

Re: Chip......Aaaaaauuurrrggggg !!!!!

I'm also sorry this happened to you! Is it best to get a professional to look at it to see if it needs polishing? Could a chip be a vulnerable spot for a bigger chip later? Sorry I don't know the answers, that would be my concern though.

Re: How big is too big for my finger?

I'd consider your lifestyle in trying to decide if it would work for everyday wear. If work with your hands, wear gloves or are say a social worker, yes, way too big. If you're in a place where huge rocks are not completely uncommon and you feel comfortable, then perhaps it's fine. +1 I agree, this...

Re: Another call for OEC experts

It looks like a very nice stone, I agree with Dreamer that from the video it doesn't look *quite* as lively as some other OWD videos. This is just a thought, could be the videography? In justginger's video, which by professional assessment is a knockout stone, the middle doesn't get a chance to ligh...

I also don't like the IDJ stone. Maybe send and email to Adam and ask him about any other 9mm+ possibilites, if that 3.13 isn't eyeclean? I'm sure you'll find the right stone for you!

After a lot of thought and soliciting more info from Neil, I have decided to proceed with this purchase. :appl: As per Neil, it is an absolutely fantastic stone, lively and faces up quite white.
