Re: HELP ME FIND THE ONE! I will DONATE $1 for every........

Thank you for everyone's replies! I narrowed it down to the following diamonds 2.13ct, H, SI1 $24,537 http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12329/ - This seems like everyone's favorite but with a SI1, it may not be mind clean (possible black inclusions which I would need to double check with GOG). I'm...

Re: HELP ME FIND THE ONE! I will DONATE $1 for every........

I find it interesting that John said this: "First hand experience here. We regularly submit to both labs." So basically they are regularly sending stones to both labs so that they can sell with the report that will bring them more profit, I assume? Why else would one send diamonds to two l...

Re: HELP ME FIND THE ONE! I will DONATE $1 for every........

Good catch, DS. That pretty much settles it, for me. In that color range, we have now seen, I think, 5 diamonds in a row with dual reports in which AGS grades color 1 higher than GIA. Assuming a 50% probability of one lab grading higher or lower, the probability of this happening is 0.03, which is ...

Strangely, they have a GIA report, but it says there is AGS. It might have both reports, just ask.

It's GIA I color and AGS H apparently!!!!

Oh, and in addition, GOG carries MANY brands of settings. I think you can get a MUCH better quality one than the one you linked, but you need to allow more money for that.

Re: Thoughts on/Alternatives to this WF ACA

It might be a better idea to get WF to put on the inexpensive setting. You'll probably have to pay a setting fee if you go local since you didn't buy the diamond there. Plus, if WF does it, they are covering the diamond for damage whereas your local jewelry will usually not. Local jewelers can be a ...

Re: Advice on this 2.07 ct J/Si2 - on the fence

I believe it is against the rules for Embee to comment on their own diamonds (or other vendors diamonds when known), just so you know. The GOG stone has great images, and is a great cut. But I would also be cautious with a large feather as the primary inclusion. I have two diamonds from GOG and I lo...

Re: Diamond Traded In - Was It Worth It?

Your new stone is a LOT better than the first one and I think the price is fair. I will agree that if you want an antique style cushion, you should look at AVCs. The culet is simply a characteristic of that style stone, however, I will tell you that in a stone that size, it probably won't even be vi...

Re: HELP! No GIA cert's for ETERNITY BANDS, so how to assess

I have also had a band from Memoire, and I had the option of upgrading the diamonds to VS clarity and I did. I would also highly recommend a vendor such as WhiteFlash to make eternity bands, because they only use ideal cut stones, F-G color, and VS clarity. In addtition, Victor Canera, Steven Kirsch...

Re: Does this diamond look darker/more yellow in this Halo?

I agree that you'll see a little contrast between a halo and center stone with an I color center. I actually like that myself. I don't see anything that looks unusual in your pictures. I'd just be sure there is good sparkle in your halo with SI2 melee in the halo.

Re: Help needed - feathers and internal graining

I wouldn't worry too much about the inclusions because that stone has other potential problems in terms of cut. It likely has leakage and you absolutely need an idealscope image before considering a purchase. I used the HCA tool to check out the diamond: http://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca Light Ret...

Re: Small pink diamond solitaire (not engagement) is it wort

Not sure why you object to a halo because it is the best way to set a really small colored stone, in my opinion. This is a very small pink I tried on last year. White metal ring with rose gold center under the pink diamond. I really loved it!

Re: Small pink diamond solitaire (not engagement) is it wort

I ran across this design by Tiffany and thought of you. I think it would work for a small pink diamond- just think of doing it opposite. Pink diamond in the center with 3 small white melee on either side. This is shown with a .15 center diamond. I know it adds a few more little diamonds than you wa...

Re: Advice... which Diamond?

The GIA is more colorless. It is G color and the EGL stone is not. So between these two, certainly choose the GIA stone. But I agree with everything Gypsy said.

I think I like these dimensions better for the ring you plan to make because the shape of it is so pretty. Re: Harry Winston inspired ring, need opinions

You simply cannot choose a cushion by dimensions. You have to choose by how it looks. Then if you find two you like, you could choose the one that faces up larger. Do you have a picture of the stone they recommended?

Re: Does this spread make my diamond look big?

Good ovals are hard enough to find without adding a requirement that it be nice cut and shallow. I think you should focus on finding the best cut 1.3-1.49 stone you can find within your budget.
