Re: Local Jeweler in Charlotte, NC

I am sorry to say that I do not know of one, but I will be reading this with interest because I also have not had any luck whatsoever even with small jobs. I do not live in Charlotte but not too far.

Re: 2.01 Ct Asscher Cut Diamond, Karl K please help evaluate

When doing the search on GOG, you have to click on BRAND and then Signature Asscher and the Octavias are mixed in there. I have told Jon they absolutely have to have a way to pull up all stones of a certain type on one page like they used to have. If people can't find the stones, they aren't going t...

Re: My new 3 carat AGS ideal

Your diamond is incredible! I think they made the ends of the prongs too bulky. Unfortunately, most jewelers just don't read PS and know the kinds of prongs we like! I am attaching a picture of my Vatche Tiffany repro so you can see how nice and small they made the prongs on top. You could show it t...

Re: Down to 2 diamonds- please PLEASE help!!

I would go with Whiteflash, but I would also choose a different setting for the same reason Gypsy mentioned. I'd recommend platinum, if possible. These are some of my favorites (I am showing platinum but you can change it to white gold if you prefer): http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solit...

Re: Frustrated, irritated and fed up. HELP!

The ring msop found for you is doable really. You do need to know that there would be a gap with the wedding band, though, so you need to decide if that would bother you. The setting takes a .75 ct center stone, so we could find you an OEC that is around 5.75mm. https://eshop.gabrielny.com/engagemen...

Re: Frustrated, irritated and fed up. HELP!

Again, David Klass is going to be the most reasonable, high quality option for making a similar setting. Not all jewelers have competent benches and you just can't get random quotes for a setting or you could have a disaster. The main reason for not ordering that Jared setting is that you need a se...

Re: Frustrated, irritated and fed up. HELP!

I agree with these ladies, you clearly are just discovering some things that you have not even been aware of...like antique stones and superideal cut, reliably graded modern rounds, and there are TONS of other beautiful settings. Please cancel the Jared order since we know for sure that you aren't g...

Re: How could AGS triple ideal not be good on hca

BUT, not all AGS Ideal cut stones are equal. I have definitely seen a few I wouldn't consider buying. I do NOT use the HCA on AGS Ideal cut stones. They are already checked for light return. But, I would still not buy one without the images of the stone, because some are not as visually appealing as...

Re: Reset 3ct earring studs to avoid drooping?

If you are considering a reset by IDJ, one setting style I'd like to suggest is the one Queenie60 recently got - where the setting looks like Vatche crowns http://www.pricescope.com/forum/show-me-the-ring/my-new-diamond-studs-from-idj-t221690.html I really like those, but honestly, without a flat b...

Re: Reset 3ct earring studs to avoid drooping?

I would definitely reset into low baskets. Those are set high and I would not like the martini base possibly stretching my ear holes. After you reset, if they still droop, there are little things you can use to help that that stick on the back of the ear. But I would reset first. Maybe check with ID...

LOVE that one.

Oh, me, toooooo!!! Find out the height!

I would also get the one you have engraved with milgrain, regardless, as long as the total cost is reasonable.
Re: Decided to go with a classic plain platinum band.....

This is a band I really love and the listing says it does come in platinum, so you could message the seller to see how much it is to order. Jabel is a very old brand that has made die struck pieces in the past. Make sure you ask the height, though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jabel-18K-WHITE-GOLD-Weddin...
Re: My Custom AVC project is about to begin!

I should add that the picture was taken outside in totally natural light. So all of them will show more tint in certain environments. My I color stone bothers me in the car, but that is from sunlight going through tinted windows!

Re: My Custom AVC project is about to begin!

I will agree with Tekate that you have to realize that L will show color. My opinion is that AVCs are beautiful in every color, but we all have differences in color tolerance for an engagement ring. I color was my limit for an engagement ring and that is why my AVR is I color! I would happily add a ...

Re: Decided to go with a classic plain platinum band.....

I will have to say that my first choice would be an engraved band because I think it will blend better with your rings than shiny metal. Just my honest opinion! Caysie makes one and Victor does, too.

Re: I believe I am Ready.... Let's Buy

No issues with med blue. Even strong blue isn't usually a problem in VS+ clarity stones. I love fluorescence!

Oh, and for loss of the ring or damage to the diamond, etc, you insure the ring.

Re: Five stone band - claw prong

Matching 5 OECs would make me crazy, so I would go with ideal cut rounds. If I did a 5 stone band, I would have Victor Canera make it like this but obviously with 5 stones instead of eternity. He does very elegant prongs. https://www.victorcanera.com/rings/bands/round-shared-prong-eternity-band He c...

Re: I believe I am Ready.... Let's Buy

You should have far greater fear buying locally because generally what we see when people come here after buying that way is that they got a stone that wasn't a great cut and paid too much for it. Almost all of us who hang out here buy almost exclusively online because we know where to find quality ...

Re: PSpers like to see the arrow at a prong or between?

It is good when the seller of the diamond can set it. Jewelers like Whiteflash do this routinely without asking, usually. And as Neil said, yes, you communicate your wishes to the jeweler, not to the bench.

Re: Frustrated, irritated and fed up. HELP!

I am so glad you are cancelling your order! You could have a very similar ring made by David Klass for less money. I would strongly advise having engraving done on the sides instead of pave diamonds. You'd end up with lost pave stones, probably, and that would be a special kind of nightmare. Lots of...
