Re: My Cut To Order Crafted By Infinity Diamond - Part two

It is just gorgeous, of course! Yes, some people don't understand that cutting diamonds to a high level of perfection is a very time consuming process that takes talent and skill on the part of the cutter. I remember Yoram saying he remembered cutting my diamond! I guess they are like babies ...

Re: Advice on 2ct diamond and J color

After talking with James Allen and re-evaluating my total budget, I have decided to only further inquire about the 2.2ct J VS2 diamond. JA told me that I can only request 3 ideal scope image so I am going to save 2 others in case I find something else in the $16K to $17K range. I know I will have t...

Re: Advice on 2ct diamond and J color

Diamondseeker2006. Thank you so much for your time and advice! I am definitely open to other vendors and the diamonds you sent me are great! A few general questions. You said the diamonds I posted weren't great cuts, but just for my learning experience why do those receive such great HCA scores (lo...

Re: Diamond Jackets and Diamond Studs HELP

I would absolutely buy the best quality diamonds I could and put the full $2000 into the studs for now. There are plenty of other occasions you can give her jackets. It is rare that I'd ever wear jackets. Studs alone can be worn with sweats or an evening gown! Tell him you want GIA Excellent cut wit...

Re: Round brilliant and ASETs-- your thoughts?

Eliminate the cushion and the SI2 stone off the bat. Cushions are deeper than rounds and can have a smaller diameter because of it (plus that is just not a good cushion and would show the K color a lot). I'd also eliminate the round K color stones. I'd stick with J or higher for an engagement ring. ...

Re: Advice on 2ct diamond and J color

I was just looking for a setting for someone else and came across this gorgeous one for you! I absolutely love it although it is a little expensive. I think it is worth it, though, because Ritani is a designer brand and is good quality. One thing I like about this one is that it has beautiful side d...

Would this height be lower since the split shank is shorter? She's set on split shank but also a low halo height. Re: Advice on 2ct diamond and J color

James Allen will allow you to place up to three stones on hold and request an idealscope image. I would suggest putting these three on hold and requesting idealscope images and then post them here. Remember there are a lot more lurkers than posters, so if you are interested in any of these, I'd reco...

Re: Advice on 2ct diamond and J color

Okay, this is the best I am seeing at B2C in J color. This is what you want your diamond image to look like, but there is slight leakage on the ASET. There are no worries with VS1 clarity. The depth is 62.4 but I can handle that in a stone that is otherwise nice. I may be able to find something else...

Re: Advice on 2ct diamond and J color

To be honest, I would not choose either of those diamonds. The first one has a really low crown angle for one thing. Try to stick with 34-35 on the crown angle. I just don't think it looks all that well cut in the image. The second one is too deep and that can result in a stone facing up (diameter) ...

Re: E color in 18k Rose gold

It looks like the prongs on the first VanC ring are white metal, though, which I would prefer. I certainly think an E color diamond would be beautiful in a rose gold setting, but I would always have the head/prongs in platinum or white gold or else those rose prong tips will reflect in the stone.

Re: Thoughts on a stone?

Re: Would ideal cut rounds reflect color?

No, it is not too deep. We usually see up to 62.3 for depth in ideal cut stones.

Re: Diamond Jackets and Diamond Studs HELP

I agree with the other ladies. Spending half your budget on the jackets isn't the best way to do this. You then only have $1000 to buy a pair of diamonds at 5mm each? That simply isn't going to work. You'd have to get smaller jackets and smaller studs, and then you just end up with little studs that...

Re: kirk kara e-ring

I would be very careful to get a stone that is going to fit that setting well, because they probably make it in standard head sizes. That is much trickier with a pear than a round. I think it is possible that Diamonds Direct could get the setting for you if you want to buy local, because they appare...

Re: More websites offering ASETs!

Our cut score is not bogus. The cut score for fancy cuts has no merit whatsoever if it is only proportion based. There is simply not enough information on a grading report to be able to report a score that has any value. I agree. I think maybe the best solution is that instead of using a misleading...

Re: What happen to all the professional jewelers on PriceSco

RandG, I am planning to make earrings with rose cuts in the near future! I love them! I don't think one really buys rose cuts in the same way they buy a new diamond for an engagement ring, though. Most people coming here are looking for new stones for engagement rings or as an upgrade. Antique stone...

Re: What happen to all the professional jewelers on PriceSco

Most of .... speciality cuts face up LARGER than their generic or antique counterparts, in spite of things I have seen posted to the contrary. So don't worry, your diamond likely faces up well compared to a generic asscher! I don't believe that to be true. Most speciality cuts are based in close pr...

Re: Is three sided pave a good Idea?

It's fine if you are wearing the ring alone. If you plan to wear two or more rings, I wouldn't recommend it because the rings can damage each other.

Re: Diamond Jackets and Diamond Studs HELP

I agree with Heidi...stick with studs only. Use your budget for the stones. Tell GOG you'd like them to get in some excellent cut H SI1 stones in for the studs. That is white enough and will buy you a little more size. I think studs alone are far more wearable daily than with jackets. So save jacket...

Right, that is the jeweler's job to look up the number and call and order the stone from his supplier. Just be sure you have plenty of pricing evidence so you can negotiate the price.
