Re: My Whiteflash 36" platinum DBTY necklace!

Great necklace DS! That's interesting about the rhodium plating. I know exactly what you mean about platinum looking a little dull. Great thought! Maybe I'll ask WF to do the same for my re-sets. Can't wait to see your new creations! Thanks for the tip DS! Thanks, Starry!!! Yes, s...

Re: my new studs and a question

Unless you live in the jewelry store, I am betting your diamonds are going to outperform those in many other lighting conditions! I sold my old studs to get ACA's and the extra money was definitely worth it to me (and mine were a lot more than $1k more than my old ones).

Re: Follow up question re: EC--for Gypsy or anyone with idea

I think Gypsy will say that neither of those look promising. If they already searched for you and only came up with two, I'd just choose a third for the sake of comparison. You do need to eliminate ones that say not available. That means they are called in by another jeweler or otherwise inaccessibl...

Re: Question for Diamondseeker?

I thought the alloy people asked for here was 900 plat 10 irridium. It is strange to me because in the UK an item cannot be hallmarked platinum unless it is 950 platinum. So 900 platinum rings over here are not considered platinum. I replied to you in the previous post, but I find your last sentenc...

Re: Question for Diamondseeker?

DS yes it will be platinum. I asked for the 95 PLAT 5% ruthenium. Is that an ok mix? I'm hoping that they actually do it! I've written everything out with detailed instructions and asked for it to be added to my invoice. How can you confirm that they made it right? That is great!!! You really can't...

Re: Advice loose diamond e-ring

Hi, your parameters are much too great. First limit your search to Ideal and True Hearts only. This is the easiest way to search. Then I use these as they usually fall into ideal cut territory. table: 54-58 depth: 60-62.3 crown angle: 34-35 pav angle: 40.6-41.0 I do not love either of those stones. ...

Re: HCA vg-vg-vg VS ex-ex-ex

No, he is referring to the HCA. It provides scoring of light return, fire, and scintillation (and spread, but that is generally always very good on ideal cut stones). My view is that if I am spending thousands of dollars, I am going to be aiming for three excellents in those areas. It doesn't guaran...

Oh, and one more very important thing, Candy. Assuming this is going to be platinum, do you know about requesting the specific alloy that is harder and more durable?

Re: Question for Diamondseeker?

Sorry, just now seeing this! I love the Vatche Grace! I think it would be outstanding with a 1.8 ct diamond! I can't wait to see your ring! I think it has great potential to go with a Legacy band, but I do think you'll have to try them on together to see if they are the same height, etc. That is the...

Thank you so much for your kind comments Callie, valmanin, LLJsmom, Evangeline, chiquitapet, Jimmianne, Shimmer, jeniroquai, and kjessop! Re: question about cutting diamonds

Basically Karl is saying that not just anyone can buy diamond rough. A cutter who could source such a large piece of rough would absolutely cut one large diamond from it (if possible) rather than two small ones because one 10 carat diamond would be worth far more than two five carat diamonds. So bas...

Re: Saw this yesterday - images for review

I also do not care for the first stone. I pretty much limit the table size to 58 max. The second one has potential depending on the images and if it is eyeclean, and the third one would be okay to compare.

Re: 14KY or 14KW for pendant mounting with FIYs?

Oh, 9 is perfect for a diamonds-by-the-yard necklace!!! I would do in in yellow gold since that is the metal you are using for your bracelet. I personally love yellow diamonds in white metal, but that would not make sense to me since your other pieces are in yg. You could do a short version (16-17&q...

Re: Help please with BGD Bead Set Eternity Band!

I think I have a picture of my ring when it had a 1.5 ct diamond when I tried on a Tiffany band with 8 pointers. I thought it was very proportional to that diamond which was 7.5mm, but I think you could go with either 6 or 8mm with your 1.25 ct diamond. As far as the amount of diamonds goes, I would...

Re: Harry Winston Inspired Halo micropaved (Yoni)

A handforged pave setting will be close to $5k, so Yoni's prices are low in comparison. I have not personally seen a ring by them, but I think a few people here have had rings made there. But I would caution you on that particular style. It is three sided pave on the shank and that does not work wel...

Re: Diamond Analysis-bang for buck in selected setting

Number 4 comes closest to the numbers I usually personally look for, which aim for the ideal cut range. It is also triple excellent, which is nice. Here is the range I usually try to stay in when there is limited information. table: 54-58 depth: 60-62.3 (if you go deeper, the diameter may be small f...

Re: Any thoughts on this 1.5 ct diamond before purchase??

This is about as safe as it gets when you order without images of the stone, etc. I think it is risky because some SI1's are good and some are not so good. If you are just ordering the loose diamond and can look at it and return it if it doesn't meet your expectations, then that should be fine. I jus...

Re: Impulse Buy on eBay...Green/blue sapphire earrings

That seller has 70,000+ feedback at 99.9%. I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as that is concerned. The listing says 14k wg, so there is no reason to doubt that. You have a lab report on one of the sapphires and since they posted that twice, I am guessing the other has a GIA repor...

And last, here are some views of the necklace layered with things I already have. The long necklace is a Leslie Greene 18k white gold with tiny diamonds, and I may shorten it just a little to work better with the DBTY (or else use a 2" extender to make the DBTY a little longer). Sorry these are...
