Re: What's on your Easter menu?

We are greeks and the traditional Easter menu contains lamb and potatoes roasted in the oven and cooked with olive oil, lemon juice, oreganon, thyme and garlic as a main dish. Also, tzatziki, which is a spread made of yoghurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper, at least two salads (one g...

Re: Foods you have Craved while Pregnant?? :)

With both girls I ate tons of fruit, couldn't get enough of strawberries, peaches and nectarines especially. Also had lots of chocolate. And one thing that most people hate is something that I love--black licorice. I ate quite a bit throughout both pregnancies and wouldn't you know that both of my g...

Re: Accuracy of ultrasound sex determination??

With my first, I was told girl at around 19 weeks and it was confirmed via amnio. With my 2nd, I was told girl at 15 weeks and the amnio confirmed it as well so I think it's safe to say you are having another girl. Congratulations!!!

Re: I am not too old to learn

joe, I've just read all your posts and am sitting here in a puddle of my own tears. As a parent, I can't imagine ever neglecting or not loving my children. It disgusts me and breaks my heart to read the little tidbits of what these girls went through--I can't even imagine the horrors they have lived...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Skippy, congratulations times two!!! Fantastic news!!!!! Bliss, I do believe paying for a private room is a NYC thing. There is such overcrowding in our hospitals that a private room truly is a luxury so of course they make you pay for one!! I delivered way uptown at NY Presbyterian/Columbia. I requ...

Re: Babycenter's Top 100 Baby Names of 2010

My daughters' old lady names come in at #7 (Lily) and #56 (Lucy). I get it with Lily--it's become very popular but it's a name I have loved since the beginning of time and we actually don't know anyone else with that name so I'm fine with it. I'm surprised to see Lucy making such a comeback.

Re: Turkey travel tips?

Blackpaw, I've just started researching and it seems like everyone is mentioning Cappadocia. I would love to try to fit that in. I love the idea of a sailing trip between all the coastal spots as well. Thanks for the advice! Bunny, Ephesus is the other place that is mentioned everywhere I look. I th...

Re: What's on your Xmas List for your toddler?

Tacori, you got a great deal on those dolls!! I can't believe how expensive they are when not on sale. I got the Sleeping Beauty DVD on Amazon. And I've seen some of those dress-up trunks on Amazon too, just wasn't sure which one is the best although you are right--they won't care about the quality!...

Re: What's on your Xmas List for your toddler?

Tacori, I saw that princess doll set at Target on BF as well! I ALMOST bought it but decided against it. Lily saw it out of the corner of her eye but I kept her moving so she wouldn't ask. We got the Sleeping Beauty DVD for her to complete the Disney princess collection. It's out of control!! qt, I'...

Re: Daycare: Paying to hold a 'spot' when baby is on vacatio

Yup, unfortunately it's normal. We get 2 weeks/year at half price for vacations but that's about the only break they give us in addition to the 10% discount for our 2nd child.

Re: What's on your Xmas List for your toddler?

Lucy is my easy child. She never asks for ANYTHING, total opposite of her sister. I told her that she has to give a list to Santa so she said she wants "story books". We're also going to get her a small piano because she loves to play. I got her some clothes from H&M and did a little o...

Re: Moms in the delivery room?

It was just me, DH, the doctor and nurses. I couldn't really imagine having anyone else in there. I spoke to my mom about it just to get her thoughts and she said she would NEVER want to see me like that! My father was horrified that DH would even be in there--in the "olden days" the dad h...

I learned to type on a typewriter so I continue to double space after a period. I also put the requisite 3 spaces between state and zip code but I may be the only one who does that--not sure if those rules have changed!

Re: Making friends as adults

I agree that it's very hard to make friends as an adult. The majority of my adult friendships have come through work. And more recently, I've made some real friends who are the parents of my child's friends. At first I thought we would just have the pleasantries at school but a couple of the moms an...
