Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Hi Mamas! I cannot believe that I now belong in this thread! How did that happen? I have no delusion that I'll be able to keep up and be a regular poster, but I will be reading along and popping my head in now and then. Charlotte turned 1 last Monday, 22 April. We have been having a bit of an extrav...

Re: Wanting but Waiting...

Nope, Mayerling, I definitely want to have no less than a 3.5 year gap between Charlotte and our next child! At this point I even have thoughts of "maybe we should only have one?" But I know I will eventually want another! I just can't imagine doing it all again so soon, and DH has just be...

Re: Moms employed outside the home

It really is a personal thing. I know many of the moms on the board do work full time. I would really struggle with it personally. I currently work 2 days a week and even on those 2 days I resent having to work, I hate leaving C at childcare and I feel relieved when I leave work after my 2nd day. I ...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Mia- I just saw your question from the other week about BH and labour. I had BH starting from about 18 weeks and they continued on, getting more frequent the whole pregnancy. From 36 weeks I would get 2+hours of BH every 5 minutes or so every night. I thought I was in labour a few times! I ended up ...

Re: PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

Re spoons: I have been encouraging C to 'feed herself' with a spoon since we started solids just before 6 months. I load the spoon up and then hold it facing the right way in front of her mouth so she just grabs it and shoves it in. At first we used the spatula soft spoons NEL was talking about, bu...

Re: PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

Hi ladies! We are still here! Haven: I LOVE my mom's group. It keeps me sane. We still meet weekly and I look forward to it every week. We are even just about to start planning a joint 1st birthday party for all the babies in April. The first outing on your own is scary, isn't it? I still remember m...

Re: Any baby wearing parents here?

Fisher: You can start wearing bubs as newborns, provided you have the right kind of carrier. Ergos need an infant insert, wraps have newborn carries. Here is a photo of Charlotte and I when she was 3 days old - the day we brought her home from hospital (she had a hot head so I took it out of the wra...

Re: PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

So excited! We have our first steps! I go back to work tomorrow and was a little sad that I might miss them, but C made sure she snuck them in just in time!

She did two in a row today and is really trying to practice, but it is still very early days so she is wobbly and slow. But so adorable!

I don't know how I would have coped at 2 months! Are you going back full time or part time? C wore sleeper...

Re: PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

LC, we have always done BLW with C and this is what she generally eats: Fruits: Almost anything. A lot of banana ( we chop it in 3rds and peel a little bit from the top so she can handle it easily), pear, nectarine/peaches, watermelon, pineapple, pretty much anything! I gave her grape but I cut in ...

Re: Tell me about teething!

Thanks for the replies ladies. I guess it is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string, isn't it? Sigh. MissRachel: check out this site: www.losebabyweight.com.au . Tell me about teething!

Hi there I am exhausted at the moment, as DD (7.5 months) has been teething for 7 weeks straight! She got her first tooth (bottom front) a few days before 6 months and then since then she has cut her other bottom front tooth, her top four teeth and I can see another tooth coming on the bottom too (c...

Re: Do you think a DIL should be just like a daughter?

I voted no. In my own experience, my in-laws seemed to skip the step of getting to know me and went straight to treating me like a daughter. But this is problematic as it did not allow us to develop a strong enough relationship, history and intimacy to have a daughter-parent relationship. This has l...

Re: Wanting but Waiting...

Haha, yes, I think everyone can agree that *labor* is hard on the pelvic floor- and everything else, too! I know you are doing PT to help now, which will surely be helpful later, but do you know if that kind of injury (is it an injury?) will affect future pregnancies (if you are thinking of future ...

Re: Wanting but Waiting...

Re getting your body ready for pregnancy, if I had my time again I would put a lot of work into improving my core strength and stability and of course doing more pelvic floor exercises. Your core takes such a hammering during pregnancy and childbirth, and then you really need the strength and stabil...

Re: Wanting but Waiting...

Meg - I'm with AMC on this one!! The idea of 2 under 2, or even 2 under 3 scares the bejeezus out of me. But you know, 'people vary' and all that, for some people 2 under 2 is what they have always wanted. I actually freaked myself out the other week and took a HPT - I was peeing a LOT, C was fussy ...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Yeah, we did a lot of babywearing. We only really used the pram for the first few months for walking the dogs and going out to dinner. If you are only going to be using the pram for going out to dinner for example, then you could just park the pram facing you. The baby joggers seem to have fairly go...

Re: Postpartum Care Thread

Well, for my first appointment she first checked my stomach for separation as I had asked about that (C was only 6 weeks then) and then they check your pelvic floor - they get you to do pelvic floor contractions and check the strength of them with your fingers (yes, it gets a bit *personal*). I had ...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Haven, most of my mother's group have a City Mini and they all love it. The only thing about the City Mini (same for City Elite) for everyday use for me is that you can't have bubs facing you. That is a big thing for me. I have an umbrella stroller for travel and that can only face away. I hated usi...

Re: Postpartum Care Thread

Just wanted to update that I saw my physio on Friday. She told me that my pelvic floor is now a 3/5, which means I can run again! Re: PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

All the little halloween babies are so cute! Halloween is starting to be celebrated a bit more in Australia, but it is still really controversial here (we are a bit sensitive to being 'Americanised' sometimes). We have had a few trick or treaters in recent years so last Monday I decided to buy a 20 ...
