Re: Summer 2016 Blockbusters

We saw Finding Dory. Meh. The kids laughed at the end, but they didn't seem to really love it. As soon as we got in the car, my husband says to me: "Well, at least you won't have to watch it over and over like you did Nemo." That pretty much sums it up. It was OK, but I don't think it's go...

Re: What did you think of Cruz's speech

Speaking of Pence - I'm not anywhere near Indiana but I'm well aware of the man, due to his extreme stances and the millions of dollars he cost the state trying to enforce them (thankfully federal judges upheld the law). When I heard Trump had tapped him my jaw dropped. I don't think he could've fo...

Re: Beat the heat...temp check

My car says it's the mid 80's, which is much hotter than normal here. We're close to the ocean so we normally have comfortable weather year round. We're fortunate to have central air, which isn't common here, and we have solar panels, so running it doesn't cost me anything. But I miss having the win...

Re: What did you think of Cruz's speech

Christians are supposed to forgive, but we don't have to forget, and we don't have to allow ourselves to be victimized over and over. For once, I think Ted Cruz did what he actually thought was right, vs what would get him ahead. I remember reading a quote from someone earlier in the election that T...

Re: Part of Melania Trump's Speech Lifted From Michelle Obam

The great irony here is that it's a speech by Michelle Obama. If she's copied Laura Bush it would barely be news, but since it's the First Lady, whom they despise, it's very ironic and funny as heck. The fall out on Twitter is hilarious. #famousmelaniatrumpquotes And apparently she Rickrolled everyo...

Re: Hillary Clinton's powerful tv ad

There is no "welfare" in the old sense anymore. But we know that that there are many welfare programs. It's just that many of them are not for the poor and they have no means test (like Social Security or deducting your mortgage from your income taxes ) so the right wing doesn't get all r...

Re: The GOP Is Asking For Trouble

You can support the second amendment, but also support reasonable restrictions or limits as well. We don't have any guns in our house (we have small kids) but my husband likes to hunt so he owns several rifles that are kept in a safe at a relative's house. I think people have the right to own guns f...

Re: Astonishing nature series

This is on our list of things to watch. We watch a ton of documentaries with the kids. Well, nature/science documentaries, I find things like Food Inc and Blackfish to be more about an agenda than education.

We just finished Last Man to the Moon, and the footage and photography are stunning as well.

Re: Diamonds by Lauren 1.04 fancy yellowish brown ring

Thank you again! Hopefully this will help anyone who is on the fence about buying brown diamonds. They are such a great value, and can be very beautiful. I forgot to comment on the vendor, probably because I have nothing but wonderful things to report. David is great to work with, and I can honestly...
Re: Diamonds by Lauren 1.04 fancy yellowish brown ring

Thank you!

The yellow is still happening (although I have been very tempted by something pink. I'm still thinking) but for Christmas. I'm planning on increasing the budget and getting something a little nicer. This gorgeous brown was an anniversary gift.
Diamonds by Lauren 1.04 fancy yellowish brown ring

I've been "brown curious" for a while, and the opportunity presented itself for me to buy this ring, so I figured it was worth a shot. Boy I'm glad I did! It is quite lovely. The color is a gorgeous caramel color that is perfectly enhanced by the rose gold metal. It photographs dark but in...
Re: Opinions wanted! Setting for 0.98ct K VS1 Octavia Assche

I plan on posting to the SMTB section when I have some free time. We've had a steady stream of visitors this summer since we live in a popular tourist destination, so I have been too busy lately. On the positive side, it it one of the most comfortable rings I have ever put on. I have worn the stuffi...

Re: Opinions wanted! Setting for 0.98ct K VS1 Octavia Assche

I recently received a bezel set halo ring from DBL and the halo is thin and very well executed. The diamond is very sparkly and bright as well. I wouldn't throw out a vendor based on one bad bezel that was made years ago. I like the trillion side stones with the octavia, but I have kind of a love/ha...

Re: Fancy purplish pink pear 0.48ct but I3 clarity

I think that ring by Grace is your best option for a pink diamond. I almost bought it myself, but, well, things didn't work out. You can ask her if it is eye clean, and she has a ton of videos. Personally, I don't care for the setting. I think it would show more color in rose gold with a pink diamon...

This article in the Daily Mail talks about the various tiaras that the queen and royal family wear. There's an interesting story behind the one Diana is wearing in the OP. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3638079/From-priceless-diamond-bands-headpieces-laden-precious-stones-Queen-s-spectacu...

Re: Help setting yellow diamond mens ring

I can't really guess. In the setting you posted, the larger diamond appears to have a diameter about half of the length of the pear. The smaller diamond feels off to me, and I think it's because it's smaller than both of the others, but doesn't follow the rule of thirds, which will probably be more ...

Re: My Journey (with pictures)

I agree with a lot of what you said. Sometimes the advice is cookie cutter here. I feel a bit sad when people come here looking for help, and they are told not to buy the diamond shape they asked about and instead always go for an ideal cut round from the favorite vendors and use the preferred vendo...

Re: My Upsetting Brilliantly Engaged Experience

Despite the original order, you didn't listen when the customer asked for changes to the CAD and never sent the model. You never had the customer's approval to go ahead and cast the ring, which you did anyway.

Re: What is a reasonable vendor response time?

Good to know I'm not crazy here. In all actuality, I'm really easy going and try to be easy to deal with. People are busy, and they're human and forget things, and so on. I'm pretty forgiving. I've been told that I come across as brash and harsh online, but that's not how I am in person. I'm just al...

Re: What is a reasonable vendor response time?

That's a good point about the July holiday, but neither vendor is in NYC. Why do they take July off? And if they're extra busy, wouldn't they send out an auto reply e-mail to let potential customers know? My husband works every Saturday. Summers are tough because they are always short staffed so he ...

Re: What is a reasonable vendor response time?

I've checked the spam, of course. I have 4 young kids, and it's summer break. Finding a quiet minute is pretty much non-existent around here. This reply was interrupted 4 times. That's why I prefer e-mails over calling. The one vendor replied to my first e-mail, and then has ignored the others...

What is a reasonable vendor response time?

I gotta tell you, I'm feeling like a pariah here. I've been emailing vendors about an anniversary gift, and getting zero response back. I feel like a response within 24 hours is good customer service, and if it is going to be longer than that, then I expect an auto-reply. Is this unreasonable? One p...

Re: Jewels By Erica Grace - Nonresponsive?

What is her average response time? I've emailed her 3 times, and only received a reply to my first email and none to any of my others. I sent my last e-mail on Sunday (obviously I didn't expect a reply on a Sunday) but I still haven't gotten a reply.
