Re: Should I resize my ring?

Have you seen these? http://www.stuller.com/browse/findings/shanks-guards/adjustable-arthritic-shanks I have arthritis, so I have been looking in to them for my rings. I can't give you a personal review, maybe someone else can, and I hope it's positive. It seems like it would solve so many problems....

Re: HOA meeting and prayer that ends with "in Jesus' name"

Except for San Diego, which is strangely conservative, probably because 25% of the population of the city is active duty. I do agree, however, that there is this perception that California is very progressive, and in many ways this is true insofar as policy is concerned.

Re: HOA meeting and prayer that ends with "in Jesus' name"

Good for you for speaking up, and I'm glad it looks like it will be resolved easily. Kenny, California is largely Christian, so I'm not surprised. Don't forget there are large numbers of Catholics in California, and in many areas of the state it is as conservative as in the south. The state is much ...

Re: Thought about this setting?

Thank you for the information, it is very helpful. I'm going to think it over for a while. As it is the last of my insurance money, I'm dragging my feet big time. I would probably want another old cut diamond in the ring. I could possibly sell the one in the ring now to help offset the cost of a lar...

Re: Thought about this setting?

That's what I'm wondering - more than they are asking for the ring, perhaps? If the ring is actually art deco, and if those are actually sapphires rather than glass, I would assume they are synthetic as it was common at the time, which are generally less expensive. But I'm wondering these days where...

Thought about this setting?

I've been dragging my feet about spending the last of my insurance money (we were robbed a few years ago and I lost all my jewelry except for my wedding set which I was wearing). Nothing is grabbing my attention. I think because everything I want is double my budget. I came across this ring o...

Before filing a suit, have you thought about just asking them not to do it because it makes you uncomfortable?

Re: I am looking at buying an engagement ring on Ebay.

I looked at some of the listings. A couple of things stand out to me. For one thing, the pictures are all computer generated, so you can't see the actual items you are buying. Secondly, they don't give out the GIA report number, and the stats on the diamonds are very vague. Is there a reason you are...

Re: Need help evaluating oval diamonds

I've enjoyed the discussion. I posted a little bit back about the types of ovals and the history of the cut because I wanted to learn about mine, but I didn't get much response. I'm still trying to ferret through the facet patterns to see which one I have, but with the open culet it doesn't seem to ...

Re: Help ... Buyers remorse

That's too bad that "internet strangers" have critiqued your ring and changed your mind about it. A lot of people love that "crushed ice" look. I'm one of them. I have some sort of weird sensory issue when it comes to repeated patterns, and they grate on my nerves like fingernail...

Re: DiamondPro Blog "Can't Recommend Whiteflash diamonds..."

I'm actually surprised that no one sees the groupthink here. That's not a criticism, it's very common in internet forums and any place where like minded people gather. But still. There is an expectation to toe the line here... And no, not a "shill." I was accused of being a shill on an ant...

Re: What will WF do?

I would have, too, but I do understand a young person who has probably just bought the most expensive thing he has ever bought, having a panic moment when it needs a repair so quickly. Also, I think that engagement rings are kind of an ego thing for a lot of men, and for it to "break" so q...

Re: Curious about history of oval cuts

Thank you! I've been too intimidated by the forum to post much, so I was very nervous asking!

All I've found so far is that they were invented by Lazare Kaplan in 1960, but no other info.

Curious about history of oval cuts

I have an oval cut e-ring that we bought 20 years ago from a set that our jeweler bought estate. We saw it in the original setting and it looked pretty old. The diamond has an open culet, which we were told at the time is common in antique stones. Fast forward, and just out of curiosity I started re...

I mostly lurk, but as a mother, I would just wait it out and keep the marquise you obviously love. I've been reading about your struggle with this stone, and it seems as if it's the "one" for you. Keep some ring dishes around your house, and when you're changing diapers or clothes or whatn...

Re: Help me find a star sapphire ring

I would not go for either of the two cabochons from starruby because the huge cracks across the top are scary and I am concerned about their durability as ring stones. Big, blue, under $500 with interesting inclusions. http://www.multicolour.com/detail/?/details/star_sapphire/st2001aa/&12447166...

Re: Help me find a star sapphire ring

I definitely want a sapphire because of the birth stone thing. It is a pretty spinel, though. As far as size vs quality, I'll choose secret option C: whatever I happen to like. I buy jewelry for me, so it doesn't matter what the quality is, if I like it. I used to have quite a bit of jewelry (we wer...

Hi PSers. I received my new ring earlier this month from Whiteflash and still admiring it. The shank is symmetrical, crown is center and all four prongs are at the right height. I am very happy with it. Here are a couple pictures. I'll take more when I ask the big question. Till then, I'm still tryi...
