Re: PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

Hi All! Congrats to all the new moms! So cute and squishy! H is almost 8 months now. He's a very happy baby and smiles and laughs all the time. Such a joy! He is trying mightily to crawl but hasn't mastered it yet. He does scoot backwards and turn side to side on his belly, just can't seem to get th...

Re: Veggie Moms - What do your kids eat?

Hi! Not a veggie. DH and I are pescetarian at home so we eat a lot of seafood. We have started giving some to DS now that he's eating solids. We get salmon from Costco. It's wild salmon, individually frozen, no funky color or whatnot added. The easiest way to cook it is just roasted in the oven. We ...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Re: pumps - I got the PIS from my health insurance. I didn't get a choice. I probably would have gotten the Freestyle if I was buying it myself, but the PIS is fine. As far as logistics, I got the fax number of the medical supply company and DH faxed the prescription from the hospital. They delivere...

Oh, dear dear dear! I am so far behind. I love all the pictures though! Anyway, I am so far behind because I have been so sick! I thought last year with the immunocompromised-ness of pregnancy was bad. Daycare is worse. So far I have had 2 colds, the flu for 4 days (despite the flu shot) and most re...

Re: Negative attitudes about breastfeeding...

I haven't encountered any negative attitudes but that's based on a few things. First, my son is only 3 months and it seems more socially acceptable to breastfeed a young infant rather than an older one. Secondly, my mom breastfed me and my brother for 11-12 months each, and my cousin has a 2 year ol...

Re: Building a house?

I know you all are right, but the problem is I can't buy a house and update it, because all the houses have already been updated! Example: the strongest contender house is 15 years old, recently updated by current and original owner. The kitchen is nice but just really not what I would have chosen -...

Diamondseeker - Daily?? Wow....I could swing once a week, but couldn't do daily.

Lizzy - thanks for the input! I may be the same way. I generally enjoy agonizing over purchasing decisions, but it might just be too much right now.

Re: How do be a better housekeeper, or let it go?

Thanks all! I will address the housecleaner idea with DH again... However, I think 75% of the problem is keeping up with things day-to-day...No one can keep the counters clean if there is mail all over it! No one can keep the back hall clean and vacuumed if there are shoes all strewn about. No one c...

How do be a better housekeeper, or let it go?

I've never been neat person. My major conflict with my mother growing up was over this issue. My husband is not a neat person either. It is the major conflict in our marriage. I would LOVE to be neat. It makes me so happy when my house is clean and organized. I can't do it though. I'm sort of a yo-y...

Re: Building a house?

Rainwood - Thanks so much for your description of the process! My DH isn't really into these things so he would defer the design decisions to me. I can forsee some conflict over budget though (i.e. I want an upgrade and DH thinks it isn't worth it). I think we can weather it though, we don't usually...

Re: Building a house?

Thanks, soocool! Were you glad that you went through the process? The neighborhood has town water and sewer so I don't think we'll have to do the perk test, etc. We're in no particular rush to move, just within the next year or so. We would be working with the builder who built some of the houses in...

Has anyone ever built a home before and want to share experiences?? DH and I are looking for a new house. We're currently renting after not being able to decide where we wanted to live. Re: PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

Hi! Trying to type and nurse so I will be brief. Skippy - eczema is far out of my specialty to be honest...steroids in general are usually only dangerous if used chronically, so I wouldn't worry too much about using the cream occasionally if it will make him more comfortable. But definitely not long...

Re: PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

Hi all! Skippy - We are dressing H up as Darth Vader...and our puppy will be Yoda. It's kind of dorky but the idea of my sweet baby as an evil villain is pretty funny to me. We'll probably try to take some pictures this weekend. Are you dressing E and M up? There must be a lot of fun costumes you co...

Re: When did your baby start sleeping through the night?

Thanks for the advice, Skippy! We have the snugabunny swing too, but it's downstairs in our house. So I use it for his naps. He still won't fall asleep in it by himself, but I think it helps him stay asleep longer during the day. He had a lot of trouble napping when we were on vacation and we didn't...

Hi everyone! Aw, Skippy, what beautiful gowns! Congrats on 6 months! I can imagine it's really hard to go out with two, and with the neutropenia I'm sure it's better to stay home anyway. Re: If You Felt You Needed an Apology . . .

My husband does this. We don't fight but about twice a year, but then it's all out. Both of us yell say things we shouldn't. I'm never proud of my role in it either. Once we've made up, I apologize specifically for those things ("I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said XYZ, I didn't mean it"), an...

Re: Questions to ask a daycare? (aka Bella's mommy freakout)

One thing that was important to us was staff turnover. We chose a place where the teachers had been there 10+ years each to minimize the chance that he would be constantly getting new teachers. I imagine this might be even more important in your special circumstances. Good luck!

Re: Cruises?

We did a cruise for our honeymoon. Initially I was against it, since I didn't think of myself as a "cruise person". I'm not very social and I don't like hokey things and I'm pretty independent. But neither DH or I had the energy to plan something big during wedding planning, and the cruise...

Re: When did your baby start sleeping through the night?

Thanks for the bump, Skippy! It was nice reading through this at this point. My son is 2.5 months. From week 5-week 8, he slept four hour stretches. Waking up once to nurse and then quickly go back to sleep. I found that quite manageable. Then he got a slight cold and we went on vacation so our rout...

Re: How has your ring size changed?

I was a loose 5.5 when i got married. in the latter part of my pregnancy, the size 6.5 temp band i bought wouldn't even go on my finger, so who knows what size i was. now, 2 months post partum i'm a normal 5.5 - my rings don't spin as much as they used to, but still fit comfortably. so there is hope...

Re: Deeply sad I will not have a daughter.

While I obviously love my son to pieces, I know I would be sad if we stopped here, or if a #2 turned out to be a boy too and I didn't have a daughter. I don't think I'd have been as sad at not having a son, but I don't know. My reasons are the same as yours - I love my relationship with my mom and I...
