Re: Halloween regret :(

The max we've ever gotten was 7 or 8. We just never get any kids. Growing up, my parents would have to have enough for 200-300 kids, as we lived in a huge subdivision packed full of kids. We'd get cleaned out. There was a guy that lived caddy corner to us that worked for a candy company and HIS was ...

Re: Any VC Emilya owners in Sydney?

If so, would you mind sharing where you had it valued for insurance please? My fiancee had a shocker of a valuation with a B&M jeweller (member of the NCJV), who said that it was due to the "very bad quality of the setting" and then went on to list out all the "problems". We...

Re: Would you buy simulant stones for travel ER or Studs ?

Quick question Would you wear a diamond simulant on an overseas trip instead of wearing your diamonds? My ER is insured but I have reservations about wearing it to travel. Same goes for my studs. They are not insured yet. If so what simulant would be the best choice? I feel naked without my ER . Th...

Re: Ebola: Do you support mandatory quarantine?

The nurse that has been ordered to home quarantine is saying she may defy the order and leave her home. I think examples like this are reason mandatory quarantines are even being discussed. It's too much for this nurse to stay in her home for 21 days. This woman seems so arrogant to me. THIS. Yes I...

Re: Ebola: Do you support mandatory quarantine?

Seriously! I don't really get her argument, it's hollow, considering she's got first hand experience AND is a nurse. Why should should get somehow different treatment? All I keep thinking is that she didn't go to really help people, she went to say she helped people because she knew it would get her...

Re: Advice on WF or GOG Ring ~1.5c

I think I'd also go with the larger GOG. I've had fantastic experiences working with them. If any one of them is grabbing you, reserve it ASAP so that a lurker doesn't snake it out from under you.

I do, because they might be carrying it and not know it. Better safe than sorry. I kind of have this urge to punch this selfish attention whore who wants a lawyer and to go about infecting the nation after she "selflessly" helped people. If she was so selfless, she wouldn't be batting an ...

Re: Thoughts on this Tiffany stone?

Well, the bonus of going through one of those two vendors is that you have full control of selecting exactly which stone or stones you want from their inventories--and those stones are in house, loose, not in some other location and not already in some ring. They have them, whereas Tiffany has that ...

Re: Thoughts on this Tiffany stone?

Hmm, others on the forum said that I could register the piece with Tiffany's after purchase (for a fee), and then they would service it. Has that not been your experience? It's hit or miss. If anyone's actually gotten it registered in their name and they're not the original purchaser, they've gotte...

Re: Thoughts on this Tiffany stone?

Thanks, Ame! It's a second-hand piece, so not from Tiffany directly, though I am looking at some new pieces as well. Your info was super helpful. Be sure it's real if you're looking at second hand. As in a reputable reseller and a good return policy. Tiffany does not authenticate pieces you didn't ...

Re: New eternity band: vendor issues and questions

Honestly, the only way I think you can avoid it is to have a different style eternity band. Anything open like that is going to require a spacer. That was what I learned the hard way.

Re: Thoughts on this Tiffany stone?

Their stones are not particularly well cut. This one is not really any exception. That is not an ideal crown angle and it is also overall a bit deep. Ideally you want the pavilion angle, not percentage, but they're not keen on giving you that information. Keep looking. Their system is pretty antiqua...

Re: Would you rather a 1ct RBC or a .79ct AVR?

I would rather have a smaller stone of higher color and clarity regardless. If I am going AVR I can go with a J-K for the antique look and feel, but either way the clarity wouldn't be my cup of tea below a VS. I wouldn't want to drop quality that much to max out size.

I had the same type of experience with education, in that I went to a private grade school (not a single person of any other ethnicity--not one. all rich white kids.) and a public high school that participated in the desegregation program (ie they bused kids in from other parts of st. louis, city pr...

I loved my stay in STL. I didnt feel unsafe walking around downtown, and loved that when I looked confused a friendly city guide walked up to lend a helping hand.
