Re: Gross Foods... that aren't Typically Gross

Baby corn grosses me out, too! I can't even list all the foods I don't like, there are way too many of them. Mushrooms- I mean, really? They are fungus. Gross. Avocados Raw onion- how can people eat it? Raw tomatoes (although I am getting better at not hating these) Cucumbers Olives Watermelon - I k...

Ha, two reviews and two totally different opinions! At least if I buy it at Costco they will take it back if I hate it. Re: Is it common now to have a baby shower with every child?

I think I'm just a bitch. I feel like weddings are seen as "eh, well, if it doesn't work out, a divorce is no big deal, just remarry", so then there's this free pass on it. Making a "mistake" doesn't, to *me*, qualify as requiring another shower. Just like w/kids, it's not reall...

Re: Is it common now to have a baby shower with every child?

I think it's tacky. The point of a bridal shower is to set up the household, which has probably already been done. By all means, celebrate, but no registry, no shower. In my FB debate I was having on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th baby showers, I brought up weddings as an analogy. If someone gets married and do...

Re: Is it common now to have a baby shower with every child?

Seems like people are really getting caught up on the word "shower". If it is called a shower, but the invite asks for no gifts, is it as bad? So if you got an invite from a friend. She is organizing her own Baby shower. It is at a hall. It is for a 2nd, or 3rd child. But is says: Diapers...

Re: How do you decide how much to put in your "bling fund?"

I don't see anything wrong with spending money now. Your bills are paid, you're aggressive paying off student loans. What's the point of working hard if you don't get to enjoy it a bit? I'd take half of any windfalls (tax return, bonuses, etc.) and put them in the bling find. Throw the other half at...

Re: Is it common now to have a baby shower with every child?

I'm a member of a local mom group on FB. Tonight, three people have posted asking if it's tacky to have a repeat baby shower (in one case it's a 4th baby...in another it's a second baby, same gender as the first, 16 months apart. I'm getting chewed out for saying it is tacky.

Sorry for the lack of answers, but am glad that everything looked good. A former coworker of mine got pregnant earlier this year the cycle after her HSG as her doc told her it sometimes "clears the way". Hoping that since the HSG didn't give you any additional insight, it can serve anothe...

Re: Is it common now to have a baby shower with every child?

I have a friend who had a baby, gender unknown. She obviously had all gender neutral stuff. She had her second baby (also gender unknown) 18 months later. And, with it, a second shower. Are you freaking kidding me? I didn't attend that one. Another friend had a son two years after having a daughter....

Re: Relationship question

Their lives, their business. But that doesn't mean you have to accept it or allow it in your house.

My DH is a deputy. He says it is about 50-50 whether the man or woman is the abuser. Shouldn't make a difference.

Re: Activity Monitor, Fitness Tracker

The only way to get truly accurate calorie counts is to use a heart rate monitor. You can use a pedometer all you want, but it can't tell if you're running or walking. There's going to be a HUGE difference between the two. For walking, it just guesses as best it can. But it doesn't account for runn...

Re: Is it common now to have a baby shower with every child?

Well if we want to get right down to brass tacks about it-shouldn't matter if you have babies of different genders or not, b/c it's not anyone else's responsibility to provide for your child. If people want to get something for a 2nd or 3rd etc child, they can, nobody is stopping them. *Generally* ...

Re: Is it common now to have a baby shower with every child?

Seems to be. Personally I don't like it unless the kids are VERY far apart. I have been to several showers where the kids are same sex and only a few years apart. What possibly could they need? I have been to a few "sprinkles" too. Not a full blown shower. It's becoming a pet peeve of min...
