Re: Let's talk baby names

I know when my M was born, I had a bit of postpartum. I felt just zero attachment to her. took me maybe a week or so. Ditto. I didn't feel any connection to B for a while, at least a few weeks. It felt really awkward to even call him by his name instead of "the baby." Thank goodness we ha...

Re: Let's talk baby names

Do you know of parents who picked out names prior to birth then once the baby was born, the parents realize their picked name was totally wrong for the baby? (most babies look the same to me, lol) This is my first kid so I'm not sure if the "wait until I see the baby and then I will just know ...

Re: Let's talk baby names

Riley is totally a girl's name at this point. It is #156 for boys and #45 for girls. And it would be even higher for girls if you added in Rylee/Ryleigh/all of the other spellings.

Re: Wanting but Waiting...

I found out at an ultrasound with a sonographer and will have to go back to my GP to talk about the results. I've been doing my own research and realise having the appearance of polycystic ovaries does not automatically mean you have PCOS but I have all the other symptoms besides an excess of hair....

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

That's a little alarming, but if it's not painful, it doesn't seem like something you should be worried about. You can always call your doctor just to be safe though, that's what she's there for. My kid seems to be stuck on my right side just under my ribs. She's still breech and I'm finding it har...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Here's a recent conversation with my female coworker (I think she is single, no kids): Her: Hey, I've been meaning to ask you - have you gained weight? Or...? Me: WTF, I'm pregnant Her: Wow, congratulations! When are you due? At this point, I'm 30 weeks pregnant, and it's very visible. She obviousl...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Well, things are sort of staying the same. He's still getting up once per night and I can usually get him back to sleep within 10-15 minutes. Last night he was up for an hour. But hopefully it was just an off night. I finally got around to taking pics for our Christmas cards. B was not thrilled and ...

Re: The Official TTC for 6 Months or More Thread

Thanks, JGator. That's a good way to look at it. After 1.5 years of failed cycles, and especially after the miscarriage, I guess it's hard to believe that something good (fertility-wise) will actually happen to me and that it is possible I'm actually going to get a baby out of this. Which is probab...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I'm on iron pills. The thing that is annoying about anemia is it takes a long time to correct. I've been on iron pills twice a day for the past month or so and who knows if it's done anything.

Re: Let's talk baby names

We really like the name Benjamin. It is the first boy name that we both seem to agree upon. I am trying to assess how popular it is, however. Whenever I hear another kid with my daughter's name (few and far between), I cringe a little inside. Everyone is different. Some people like popular names. W...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

We are down to two. I think it's hard for me because I am having a hard time letting one go. This is our last child and every time I say "OK its this name!" I think "but wait what about this name!" I feel the same way. We have one boy name picked out and I'm afraid that we we'll...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I told my boss the day after the NT scan, once we knew everything was okay. So 13 weeks or so?

I had my 28 week appointment. It all seems so real now! I got my Rhogam shot and have to start kick counts. My CS is scheduled for 12pm on 2-2. I'm measuring 4 weeks ahead now.

Re: Do friends or family ask to try on your e-ring?

It doesn't bother me, but DH is really against it. He thinks my ring is for my finger only. So, I've never let anyone else try it on.

Re: Choosing child's mattress (plus bed transition)

I can't really speak to the mattress selection issue- we have B in a toddler bed that uses his crib mattress. I can say that I think it's too firm for his liking, so when we move him to a real bed we will get one that's a little softer. He is long overdue to be in a bigger bed, but we plan on moving...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Just to update- last night went better than I expected. He woke up twice, sort of a fake cry, and went back to sleep within 2-3 minutes. The third time he woke up was a real cry and he was standing at his door, removing the baby gate. I went into his room and laid down in his bed, which made him fre...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

AMC, I'm sure he gets it. We started bribing Ethan when he *just* turned 2, and he totally understood that if he slept the whole night, he could have Teacher. Oh before I would go in, I'd ask him, "Do you want mama to come in, or do you want Teacher in the morning? If you want Teacher you have...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Jgator & AMC, I'm by no means a sleep expert or role model either, but I found bribes TOTALLY WORKED with Ethan at this age. I'm a mean Mom and held Ethan's morning DVD watching hostage unless he slept through the night. I had to do that for like 4 wks, then it got a lot better. Literally told ...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

I think I have a plan in place, I know it will be a few rough nights but it will be worth it if he goes back to STTN. I will still give him his milk at bed time (but I'll go back to making it half water, which I used to do...). If he wakes up in the middle of the night I'll give him water and not le...

Re: PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Anyone want to help me with a sleep issue? This happens almost every night and it's getting old. B gets a sippy at bed time with milk. He generally goes right to sleep. Somewhere in the 1am-3am range, he wakes up and stands at his door (which is gated). He either asks to come into our bed or he asks...

Welcome, and congrats! Everything you mentioned is totally normal. Your hormones are so out of whack during pregnancy that all sorts of strange things happen. Re: Funny - Toddlers with Picky Eating Habits

This is great! B went through a stage where he wouldn't eat a banana if it was out of the peel. Or grapes if they were detached from the stem (vine?). Or, and if he's eating chips, they MUST be flat. If they are at all folded or have bubbles, he won't eat them.

Re: Disney World - VIP tour & other Q's

I'm so glad you had a fun time! The private tour sounds amazing, and extremely efficient.

We are back to debating our Disneyland trip. I think we will just wait until it gets closer and see how huge and uncomfortable I am at that point. Sigh.
