We are in escrow for a new house (yay!) and will need a washer/dryer and refrigerator. We were fairly set on a particular set from Samsung (top loader) and a 4 door (French door with door-in-door feature, also Samsung), until speaking with a Home Depot employee. He said samsung's customer service is...

Re: Interviewing. Ask about flex work schedule?

I just wanted to update this thread (um, even though it's not my thread). I did get a job offer and we are moving in a few weeks! As an added bonus, they are paying full relo, including a month of temporary housing, a house-hunting trip, 30 days' storage of our stuff, etc. We are trying to buy a hou...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Fingers crossed, amc!! If you're critically concerned....I can't remember where you're located, but if it's available by you, you could consider Plan B. I know I've seen it over the counter in the aisle with the pee sticks/contraceptives at drugstores/Target, though it's pricey. It's supposed to st...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ruh roh. The bright side of this story is you're managing to get time in for you and *someone* w/ a 4mo old, but that may have just come to a grinding halt with him kicked to the doghouse! One hope is that the stress of a possible BFP will make ov late this month, maybe? I hope so! The only reason ...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I'm definitely not TTC right now, seeing how baby T isn't even 4 months old. But *someone* didn't do what he was supposed to do because (his words) I'm "not in the fertile window." Ummm, yeah, I'm on freaking CD10. I O anywhere from CD14-19. I might actually kill him.

Re: Thinking of moving to Portland. What do you know?

Azstonie- DH's family is in the Eugene/Springfield area. We did look down there, but really need to be in Portland for the job market. Aviastar- Vancouver is one of the places we are looking at as well! It's looking like I'll end up in downtown Portland for work, though, and I'm not really thrilled...

Re: Wedding gift etiquette - no reception

I always thought presence at a destination wedding was the gift. People who don't go usually give gifts. in lieu of their attendance. Looks like you are in the $3000+ range just on wedding events, I think they will understand if you don't give a gift. You've given a lot already. That more than cove...

Re: Thinking of moving to Portland. What do you know?

Hi! My husband and I are currently in the process of moving to Portland from NV. I'm actually up here right now for some job interviews. As soon as I get an offer we will move. We don't want to be in Portland, per se, but in the outskirts. Either the St. Helens area on the OR side or Battleground on...

Re: Is LinkedIn turning into Facebook?

I'm fairly active on LinkedIn and haven't noticed much personal use. I didn't really "get" it at first, but now that I'm job hunting I've found it to be a great tool.

Re: Let's talk baby names

Bumping this thread again to see if anyone happens to have any more baby names to throw out there! I think I've way overthought this issue and have no clue how to come to any resolution on baby names for my in utero boy/girl twins. I keep going to Swistle and Nameberry and other sites looking for i...

Re: Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Please share in my excitement. I just got a message from my doctor. He didn't have results from the last draw, but he said my results were "so normal" that the last number wouldn't make any difference. He said I can keep eating what I'm eating and doing what I'm doing. I am so excited!!!!...

Re: Interviewing. Ask about flex work schedule?

amc, just bumping this to ask how your interviewing is going? Also, I wanted to give a final update. I received an offer without any mention of a flexible or reduced work schedule. I decided to try to negotiate, but they weren't willing to give me a "formal" WFH schedule. They did say I c...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I've been cautious and have kept alcohol limited to AF and maybe a day or two after. In part because I, too, wouldn't mind losing a few pounds, and I'm trying to avoid anything that might, on some level, affect our chances. Alcohol certainly isn't a contraceptive...many a pregnancy are even blamed ...

Re: Anyone ever use ASAP Tickets for airfare?

I am a part-time travel agent. Your best bet is almost always to book directly through the airline's site. Prices are rarely discounted on other sites (or, more often, they appear discounted but have extra fees and such). More importantly, if something goes wrong with your flights, it's usually a gi...

Re: Any Business or Econ majors? Daughter needs help!

I have a BA in Econ and Poli Sci and an MA in Econ, all from UCSB. From a major standpoint, economics and business are very different. Econ is very math driven, and is considered a quantitative based major. A lot of analyst positions will say they want a degree in statistics or economics, as an exam...

Personally I'm in the "drink till it's pink" club. I know a lot won't do that and don't drink at all so it's really down to you to decide. I have cut back though, well as of today anyway, vacation was an unlimited drink package blur :lickout: When I do drink though I "try" to ke...

I was trying to think of words I find offensive, but there really aren't any. There are a lot of words I find rude or inappropriate, but not offensive. They are just words. But I'm also pretty much the least PC person around, so maybe that's why.
