Re: 34 kids! A father but not a dad.

I must have missed the part that his kids are on public assistance or he doesn't pay child support. Didn't it say he has a successful career? I find it SO interesting that he agreed to those dolls in the video. I am guessing they would have done the interview even without the extra drama. I think 34...

Re: Do you own any $200 jeans?

I do think expensive jeans are nicer. I find there is an obvious difference between a pair from Old Navy and premium denim. However, I think it really depends on your body type. My favorite kind are AG and they are expensive. However, when I figure my cost to wear, I rather have a few jeans I love a...

Re: Oh my aching feet! Comfy shoes?

I have found Clarks to be the most comfortable. I run around a lot at work and have to wear closed toe shoes. That's all I wear. If there is an outlet close to you the prices are much cheaper. Good luck!

Re: Would you pay for a test that didn't need to be performe

I've never been to a gyn that didn't give me a pg test as part of their protocol. I also don't need them done, but I'm not going to make a fuss about it. I've never been to a GYN that did a pg test as part of a routine appt. It seems like maybe the protocol varies pretty widely. I haven't either. I...

Re: Ugly suspicions can be so hurtful.

I think people's professions seep into their everyday lives. Kind of like when you are pregnant everyone is pregnant. You get a new car, everyone seems to be driving that car. He works for Homeland Security so I am only guessing that he has seen children victimized. I know I am MUCH more suspicious ...

Re: How many years, average, do you use a computer?

I use it until I can't. Literally. I have a 2009 macbook air. It is much slower than newer ones but it works. I have never felt the need for the newest technology.

Re: Car advice needed!!!

I JUST bought a 2013 CX-5 Grand Touring AWD. CRV was one of the cars I test drove and I HATED it. The blind spot was horrible and it vibrated. All the SUVs in this size have some blind spot issues but the blind spot sensors really sold me on the Mazda. The inside was much nicer as well (finishes, o...

Re: Child's Birthday Party RSVP

Errr...I think MOST people know what RSVP means or at least know how to work google if they don't. I got in "trouble" once for not RSVPing to a verbal b-day invitation. I was expecting a written one or at least an email and figured the mom was just being polite or making conversation with ...

Re: Child's Birthday Party RSVP

It is totally normal and rude. Out of the 4 RSVP parties I have thrown my DD (in two different states/regions of the US) I have never had everyone respond. I usually bring a few extra goodie bags just in case because there is usually a surprise. I always put a RSVP date but people forget or blow it ...

Re: Do you regrets having kids?

I work with chronically mentally ill and addicted people. Some of their parents DO regret having them. It is heartbreaking to have a sick child. It is difficult because when you are holding your newborn baby you have all these dreams and wishes for them. Sometimes their lives just don't work out the...

Re: Overparenting.

I am not an overparenter...at all. I would like to think I also don't under parents but a balance can be difficult for many reasons. I allow my child to feel uncomfortable feelings. I resist the urge to rescue her as I think learning coping skills is important. I allow my child to work out social is...

Re: A sound insight on preventing mass shootings......

I am only familiar with the laws in my state but I am sure many other states are similar. Here, if someone is brought for an involuntary "hold" they have a hearing within 72 hours not counting weekends or holidays. The only way "out" is if the attending psychiatrist does not feel...

Re: Anxiety attacks and public speaking... help!

Hope it went well. You got great advice. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help with anxiety issues. Breathing is one of the most important parts. We tend to have rapid, shallow breathes when we are anxious. I think exposure is great and helps the anxiety lose its power. I have done public speaking a...

Re: Traveling with your bling, do you worry?

I work in the social services field and NEVER wore my e-ring or any other flashy jewelry to work. For me it isn't really about fear of it being stolen, it was about not having any distractions between my patients and my work. Most the people I work with are broke. I feel it is unkind to drip myself ...

Re: What do you think of seeing nurse practitioners?

I like getting referrals from friends and family. Some NPs are good, some are not. Same with MDs. When in doubt I pick the doctor. I work with a lot of nurses and while I would totally trust many of them, overall, I just feel more comfortable with someone with more education/experience. I have also ...

Re: Anyone had LASIK?

My father had Lasik at 51, my sister had Lasik at 23, I had PRK at 20 (we all got it done in the same month in 2000). My father did not have any issues and still claims he has 20/20. Re: How do you feel about stick figure family car stickers?

I don't like them at all. I remember telling someone I felt it was dangerous to have the names on their car (or backpacks, etc) and he said I was overreacting. "Dexter" did an episode a week or so later where the serial killer lured the child by using his name and his mom's name! Ha! I am ...

Re: Have you ever been bullied on the internet?

I have felt personally attacked before. I think sometimes people get a false sense of intimacy and maybe feel "permission" to judge. I also think people are braver behind a screen name.

Re: post-interview thank you letters

I have only sent a thank you to the hiring manager. My last job required 5 separate interviews, (HR, manager, Surgeon, 2 psychologists). I only e-mailed the manager since I was guessing the last three have very busy jobs and HR doesn't really have a say.

Re: If you got divorced or have been divorced....

My ring was stolen, which actually was probably for the best. Prior to that I was leaning towards keeping it for my daughter. I do not wear flashy jewelry with my line of work but I would have no issue with resetting the diamond in a pendant/RHR if it fit my lifestyle.
