Re: Missing watch

Hi J! I am doing great. I was watching my niece and nephew so wonder if my niece (3 years old) put it somewhere. I asked her today but she seemed confused. Hopefully I will find it as I feel naked without it! Hope you are well!

Missing watch

I know some PSers have strong intuition on missing jewelry and have helped others in the past. I lost my watch last weekend. I know it has to be in my home (unless it got thrown away by accident). I remember taking it off and thinking "this isn't where I normally take it off" but cannot fi...

Re: Pandora Bracelets - Fabulous or Fad?

I think you should wear what you love no matter if it is "trendy." My sister started a Pandora bracelet for me 7 years ago. I loved it and wore it daily for years. I still have it and appreciate each charm for what each represents.

Re: Paying for babysitter vs relying on others

I have used paid babysitters in the past (when I lived far from family) but now only use family (my mom or my sister). I also help with my sister's kids so it works for both of us.

Re: President Obama commuting more prison sentences than any

Too many from the War on Drugs era. IMHO for release they have to be non violent offenses both in and out of prison. Many inmates may have gotten sentenced for non violent crimes but committed violent offenses once locked up. Your record in prison should be clean in prison too for a commutation. An...

Re: When is the last time you.....

I am in a profession in which all I do is give. Most times it is rewarding but often just exhausting. Sometimes I feel like I have nothing else to give to strangers. However, I will open doors for people and go out of my way to be friendly to cashiers/servers/etc. I will let someone go in front of m...

Re: Confession time - Have you played Pokemon Go?

^I understand that, but not everyone does that. I've seen people play it and I've witnessed some pretty unsafe behaviors. There is a spot in my neighborhood where there is a Pokemon and unfortunately, it is on a blind curve in the road. I have seen young kids on bikes stop there and cars can't see ...

Re: Confession time - Have you played Pokemon Go?

I think anything to get people moving and out of the house is awesome. It is an innocent, fun game. Of course there are people that have gotten themselves in trouble but that is not the game's fault. People need to use common sense and stay aware of their surroundings.

Re: Falling off one wagon and staying on another

I specialize in addiction counseling so I agree with what others have said. It is great that you are seeing the abuse potential before you fall down the rabbit hole. There are more deaths from prescription medication overdoses than car accidents in our country. It is a HUGE problem. Taking someone e...

Re: Any tips on buying used cars?

I have not had great luck negotiating at car dealerships. Even though I usually e-mail in advance to make sure they negotiate AND walk away, it just seems difficult to get them down much. I bought in cash which I think actually works against you since they can't make money off financing. Buying a ca...

Re: A little red wine for heart health or no alcohol at all?

People overestimate the benefits of wine. Like sugar, it is fine in moderation for *most* people, but I know a great deal of people who are heavy drinkers without even knowing it (national guidelines are over 7 servings a week for a female). I work in the addiction field and specialize in solid orga...

Re: A little red wine for heart health or no alcohol at all?

The consequences of red wine outweigh the benefits if your drink more than half a serving a week (2.5 oz).

Re: Hangover Disproportionate to Intake

I am sure you are fine and hopefully something else just disagreed with you. However, reduce tolerance is a sign of poor liver function. There are ways to improve it so don't let that scare you. A simple blood test could put your mind at ease.

Re: Dealing with a friend's abusive husband

Tacori, I totally agree. She is being victimized, and needs support and empathy. I don't see being the victim of partner violence as being the same as addiction, nor do I see empathic listening in either situation as being enabling. I've told her that I can't be around him, because I am too angry, ...

Re: Dealing with a friend's abusive husband

There have been a few times over the years that this question comes up and my answer is the same. You can be supportive of your friend. You can let her know that if she decides to leave that you'll be there to help her through that tough time. You can NOT do a damn thing about his behavior or about...
