Re: Diamond E vs. F? Is that a big differences?

I have been told by many graduate gemologists that even to the trained eye, it is nearly impossible to discern between an E and an F. If it is F you should not have any yellow at all. At least not by GIA standards. I have a few Ds and can tell next to my F that they are colorless, but I also wonder ...

Re: Whats the smallest in diamond size you could go?

Wow, those are some pretty rings, Lula! I'm in love with the aquamarine from the March 19th post. I have a pair of diamond studs that a friend gave to me. They are beautiful, but quite small. I'm not sure of the exact size, but each one is less that a quarter carat. I'm tall-ish (5' 9"), and h...

Re: Whats the smallest in diamond size you could go?

1. A 7.5ct ring only worth 90k - what was wrong with it? 2. She says she was wearing it w/ diamond palm-side, as she often does - if you have the presence of mind to recognise that you are safer turning it, you presumably have the presence of mind to recognise that wearing 100k on your finger at th...

Re: Does anyone like tennis?

My younger son is a tennis nut...but if I asked him this question, the eyes would roll out of his head.

Her parents are jewelers, so I am guessing/hoping she has quite a nice wardrobe of jewels. Sorry I can't help with your specific question though.

How do you take such awesome, close-up photos of your gems?

I have a Canon 20d and a variety of lenses. I have put it on macro and used my tripod and extra lighting and they all look horrible...can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

Re: Which Diamond would you pick?

I was kind of disappointed that there were not more options in our price range, even at other stores. I was really hoping to get closer to a carat, but looks like that is not possible even though the website says this ring in a carat starts at $11,100. Opinions? Thoughts? I am guessing they mean to...

Re: Just got ring, thinking of upgrading... please help! (PI

I rarely meet a woman who thinks her ring is too big on her hand and 1.25 wouldn't be too big on any adult, IMO. My first ring was 1.57 carats and that was too small, pretty quickly. We moved up to a 2.5 and that was 'just right' and I wore that until I moved on to my 20 year anniversary ring (at 18...

Re: Do pink diamonds photograph lighter than they are in rea

I do not think there is a straight answer that is absolute. I have a friend with an argyle pink and it photographs much darker pink than it is in real life (and it is a very saturated pink!) Another friend has a pink diamond pendant and it looks washed to a 'warm' diamond color in photos, but is dis...

Re: 8mm pearl studs vs. 8mm ruby studs

I posted this in the Pearls forum, but thought the experts here could help me too. ;)) I have a pair of 8mm white pearl studs, which look great on me. Pity party, please join me!

My oval sapphire anniversary ring was ruined last year and it took me about 6 months to find just the right setting for my ring. I worked with a custom jeweler locally, visited diamond districts in several cities and finally went with a custom Daussi halo. It was supposed to be done the 27th of last...

Re: Help me decide (again) please?

If it was for me, I'd take the F VS over and over again. I favor higher colors and an si1 isn't "mind clean" enough for me. My sweet spot is f/g vs1. I'd sacrifice size to get it too. I'm by no means an expert. But as a girl, she asked and said she preferred icy white F and 1.8 carat size...
