Go for the 3.3G stone or a 3.3F (if you can).  J stones show color/tint.  Besides, from your post it appears you already have your answer since your GF told you she prefers quality!  P.S. I don''t know any women that would pick a 2.5G (smaller stone) over a 3.3G...that is just silly!&...
