Karl, I do believe it's a regional thing. Where are you located? I know Florida has a huge shortage of nurses (tons of retirees there). The big hospitals in the metro Philly area require a BSN. I am a lowly ASN (nursing), but I earn the same amount of $$ as my BSN/MSN co-workers, and I had waaaay less owed in student loans (7K vs. up to 80K!).
