Thanks everyone! Ringplease - this is actually a Sophia Tolli. I LOVE Maggie Sottero and my second and third choices were Maggies. Surprisingly, Sophia Tolli is a lot more affordable than I thought. Since I was introduced to the bridal salon by a friend of the owners, they gave me 10%....AND since i...

We're having a sweetheart table for the following reasons: 1. Our bridal party comes from all over the world and so most of them don't know each other. A lot of them will meet for the first time at the rehearsal dinner, the night before the wedding. We don't want to force them to sit with the BP so ...

Indy, you are too sweet! I remember pictures of you in your dress and you''re pretty hot yourself! This dress has all the elements I wanted: sweetheart neckline, a full skirt, corset back, and detailing that makes it stand out. I hate my body type because I''m fuller on top than bottom (I really hav...

Mrs DMcD - My fiance and I are having a 9-month engagement. We were engaged end of June, started planning right away, and at the moment, while waist-deep with the wedding planning, we just signed a contract on a condo! Sometimes I do want to pull my hair out because it''s so overwhelming. But I call...

I love the details of the back. I don''t think I''ll wear a cathedral length veil on my wedding day - it seems too overwhelming, no?

I ordered the dress!

After visiting 8(!) different bridal salons, I finally found THE DRESS. And this past Saturday we ordered it!!! Since we were buying, we were able to take pictures (why don''t they let you take pictures unless you''re buying anyway?). Unfortunately the pictures didn''t come out too well - my mother ...

Oh my...I just read the original post and...all I can say is, wow. I''d be tempted to remove her from the guestlist, but it''s family. I''d do what Hudson Hawk suggested - send her and invite and if she comes, assign someone to keep an eye on her. If she ends up making a scene at the wedding, it may...

I definitely don''t want to make them do things they don''t want to. I''m letting them choose their own dresses (they can be different styles just as long as they''re the same fabric), and I really don''t expect too much from them aside from being there for me for the rehearsal dinner and the weddin...

My MOH is my little sister, and she''s never been a bridesmaid before. And frankly, she''s not a typical girly girl....she''s never been interested in weddings before so I don''t think she could email everyone with their duties. I can''t wait for this month to be over! It''s the busiest time of the year at work and I''m soooo exhausted every day. more advice needed from NY brides....

What are the best bridal salons to go with a $1,500 budget in the NYC area? I''ve already been to RK Bridal and the Bridal Garden, but didn''t find anything I love in either stores. I can''t go to Kleinfelds because their gowns start at $1,800, and Mark Ingram prices seem to be pretty high too. Help!

I don''t think you''re being unreasonable. It''s one thing if you were getting married before them and they were just not that enthusiastic about a friend''s wedding. For example, I know which of my friends like hearing about the wedding and which despise any kind of wedding talk, and I steer my con...

Sottero & Midgley - NY

While browsing wedding magazines I fell in love with the Sottero & Midgley dress below. So I started browsing the Maggie Sottero website and I really like a lot of her dresses! I personally like the calculator on Brides.com better than the Knot one since it has a slider budget where if you adjust one, the rest adjust accordingly. There are also shaded areas on each slider that shows you average/suggested prices. Good luck!

I think everyone has valid points here. Leaving the reception to freshen up, attend to nature''s calls, etc is totally understandable. It''s just that I''ve never been to a wedding before where the main people were gone for so long. Now I''m not sure about the bride''s family, but I know the groom''...
