Re: Diamond melee price question

In this case, it appears your jeweler severely underestimated the labor involved (which gave you an incorrect baseline). But I dont think his revised pricing is that far off once you put things in perspective. I have gotten quotes to literally pave an entire ring in diamonds. The carat weight was no...

Re: Diamond melee price question

I am having a ring made but I find that the price he's charging me per carat is a bit much. I wanted to see if it was just me or if what hes charging me is really ok I see the path you are going down, but here is my take (I am assuming you are working with a preferred vendor here on PS): 1. The pri...

Re: Custom setting - can I see?

I definitely think at a certain ring budget, it makes sense to go custom if you cant find a design local. I say this because settings at this caliber are not cheap. However, I think it also takes a certain type of client to maneuver the custom process (unless you are ordering something they've alrea...

Re: 3/4 or 2/3rd pave?

I vote for 3/4. I just personally hate seeing a lot of metal. I am allergic to it.

Re: Retail vs. Online Price?

JM does offer payouts (aka settlements), but I think only in the cases that they are unable to repair, replace, or rebuild the “covered property" with material of the same kind and quality, to the extent practicable. Translation: If the value of said items have risen sharply and JM is unable to...

Re: What jewelers can make a nice nice halo setting for cush

I think there must be a sliding scale in terms of pricing / cut quality. Also, add into the mix that each jeweler has their own markup. Its pretty difficult to assess why jeweler x charges more than jeweler y unless you know all the variables (ie. supplier). On average, I believe poor quality single...

Re: What jewelers can make a nice nice halo setting for cush

are single cut pave more expensive than full cut? VC said its more for single cut which I just don't understand. Is anyone can explain difference between "single" cut and "full" cut? Sure, I did a write-up in my post: http://www.pricescope.com/forum/show-me-the-ring/victor-caner...

Re: You won't like a cushion

My fiance and I love the AVC she wears. People constantly ask what kind of diamond it is because it looks unique. People are like "Is it a round, or a princess". Nothing compares to a well cut cushion in dim/candle-lit lighting.

Some people have repeatedly asked to see the ring. Word of mouth has spread at her job, so she has been inundated with questions a...

Re: Victor Canera Flower Halo featuring a 1.52 AVC & 3 Row P

So here are some specs on the ring: Single-Cut vs Full Cut - Single cut, 1.4mm Going into this project, I knew I wanted single-cut stones because of what I read and saw here on Pricescope. However, when I asked Victor what he thought had more fire, he recommended full cut. I was confused because it ...

Victor Canera Flower Halo featuring a 1.52 AVC & 3 Row Pave

It's been a whirlwind since this weekend after I popped the question with this VC masterpiece. More details to follow in a subsequent post, but I just wanted to share this link to the ring so you can see the creation that took a year (from concept to reality) in the making. Last December, my then gi...

Re: Diamond Quality in HW-inspired Pave

Re: Antique cushion experts - what's the difference?

I might have missed who actually cuts the AVC, but it's still GOG's design and cut parameters that its cut to, they own the design, IIRC and they have a specific cutter/facility cut them to that design and parameter, correct? I would like to think most people know that Jon's not back there actually...

Re: Show Me Your E-rings with 3 Row Pave Band

I think one of the biggest reasons for not seeing much of it is because of cost. Diamond melee costs have skyrocketed...so reason stands that adding additional rows of diamonds will drive up the setting cost significantly. I've gotten some quotes in the area of $6k for 3 row pave. I don't even want ...

Re: You're going to want one.

Where was this ring when Kobe Bryant needed it? I am a believer in the laws of diminishing returns...I think the idea is impressive on paper, but I don't see this really shaking things up in the industry. For one thing, it's kinda ugly, for what it is, and it looks like a ring pop. Then there's the ...

Re: advice needed on Tiffany & Co upgrade options

If you decide to go with the 1ct stone, the other thing to keep in mind is the future prospect of a diamond upgrade. If you spend $19K, you would need to cough up nearly $40K to "get your money back". You indicated that you overpaid once, no need to do it again.

Re: advice needed on Tiffany & Co upgrade options

Honestly, I think spending that much money on a 1ct stone is not a good idea. There are TONS of Tiffany replica settings, so no need feel locked in to Tiffany's, unless the brand is a high priority. I agree with the other poster that you should try to recoup as much as possible to put towards the ho...

Sorry for the thread hijack, but what is the fire/sparkle difference between 3 and 5 rows of pave? Assuming that the band-width is same, and using smaller stones for a 5 row design.

Re: Cushion Halo Setting - Leon Mege or Steve Kirsch?

This thread has given me a real concern regarding using SK for my project. Up until this point, I was certain I would be using SK instead of LM, but now I am leaning back towards LM. It seems LM has a more concrete stance on what handmade means (without all the deceptive marketing BS), and takes pri...

Re: Opinions please!: Single row pave VS 3 rows pave on band

Well having two rings with 3 sided pave next to each other is jewelry suicide unless they are soldered. I love the look of 3 sided but it would need to be worn alone or with a plain band. Can't a thin spacer be made to keep the two rings from grinding on each other? I could have sworn I have seen i...

Re: BGD cubex?

The Jubilee and POH are very similar except on the facet pattern. The POH has a very square=ish pattern where as the Jubilee looks like a cushion. The cubex has the same facet pattern as the POH.
