Re: about to purchase a BG signature hearts and arrows- ques

Nit with vendors who have pics and honest gemologists. SI1 is perfectly fine on a case basis... not all VS2s are Herculean either so you still needless and gemogists review there any way.

Re: AGS Ideal Cut & Light Perf. RB vs Hearts & Arrows RB

Ahh. Now see, that's not something I had considered. Diamond size relative to table size. That's a really good point. I was looking at about 1 carat stones when I chose the 60/60. But you raise an interesting point. If I was looking at a large diamond I can easily see how I might prefer a smaller ta...

Yes. Pass. http://www.pricescope.com/files/tutorial/using_IS_Reference_Chart_72.jpg The entire purpose of faceting a diamond is to reflect light. How well or how poorly a diamond does this determines how beautiful it is. How well a diamond performs is determined by the angles and cutting. This is wh...

Regarding GIA excellent cut: If you want to shop at Blue Nile, that's your choice. You should always the stones through the HCA. And read the below (so you understand what the HCA is). The entire purpose of faceting a diamond is to reflect light. How well or how poorly a diamond does this determines...

Re: how to sell fine china?

I use fine china everyday. It's stronger than any other type of dishware. In my experience the issue with 'Fine China" is people think it has to be for special occassions, and they do not want to deal with the bother of storing something they will only use a couple times a year. And I agree... ...

Re: 2Carat Emerald Cut Diamond ASET Need Help!!!!

No, your jewelers IS NOT recommending the same thing I am. .01 is not 1mm. .01 is a ONE pointer. .005 is 1mm. Which is a 1/2 pointer. .01 is 1.25 mm which is too big. And likely they are doing CAST manufacturing which for the CLOSEST match to the look you want with the delicacy you need is NOT going...

Re: Likelihood of finding a 'signature' super ideal diamond?

To amend what I said. Price difference isn't the main issue between Super Ideals and non-super ideals: I think the issue is more of availability and price. Let me explain. There is much more STOCK in GIA Ex/Ex with great numbers/ light performance. So on any given day if someone has a 10K budget and...

Re: Need some opinions on a GIA G color

G is very safe and VERY white. It is important to remember is that color is graded FACE DOWN. Where there is NO light return. Not face up where there is light return and refraction. You wear diamonds set. FACE UP. Within one color grade, even the labs can't agree on the color grades of stones and so...

Re: Should I buy it?

This stone looks hazy to me. Yup. We aren't who you should be talking to. It's the gemologist at JA. And what you need to ask them is: does the clarity of the stone impact the performance and light return negatively. They will be honest with you. If the answer is NO. Great. If the answer is Yes, th...

Re: AGS Ideal Cut & Light Perf. RB vs Hearts & Arrows RB

Lenapie, In terms of ACA vs ES I can tell you what my EXPERIENCE has shown me since I am NOT a vendor. There used to be so minute a difference as not to matter. HOWEVER in the last year SPECIFICALLY I have noticed that it SEEMS as if WF has relaxed their ES line parameters. In the past they did not ...

Re: AGS Ideal Cut & Light Perf. RB vs Hearts & Arrows RB

My only point of difference is I doubt you would have 100% success at picking between Supa doopa ideal and fab rounds. You are probably right about that. But there is one thing you don't know about me (and you and Wink, etc. are going to probably find hilarious). I find super-ideals kind of creepy ...

Thanks Gary. As for price difference. I can't disagree with your research. But I don't think I stated what I meant correctly by saying that they issue is price per carat in and of itself. Re: 2Carat Emerald Cut Diamond ASET Need Help!!!!

What do I think? I think that if you REALLY want to get kind of close to that look you should be looking at a hand forged setting and get those shanks as TINY as possible if you want something that has that look. I LOVE bright cut pave frankly. It's actually my favorite type of pave for split shanks...

First three listed in your thread title (EC, bag, asscher) are step cuts. Flanders is not a step cut. It is a brilliant cut. It's a cut cornered square brilliant so it is a type of branded radiant. Re: Helluva deal? Educate me, please

Whitest would be a 6 or 8 prong. Or a simple bezel. Depends on your style. If it's a 'normal' J without a brown tint you should be fine in just about any setting. Several of my friends have J's. I love them. Great values. I'm so glad it was available for you to purchase! I can't wait to see what you...

Thank you greg, it's kind of you to say. It is easy to lose perspectives on the boards when you see so many lovely pieces, I suppose. It is perfect. No. It's showing a decent amount of leakage on both the IS and the ASET. And it would not be a good ring stone for a super picky PSer. FYI, I've had some pretty strong cough syrup, I'm sick and sleep deprived (either the cough syrup keeps me up or the coughing does). So keep that in mind when reading my post. I'm not quite hearing colors anymore... but that was only a little while ago.

I think there are a lot of reasons. Things evolve. PS has too. I can give you my perspective for what its worth (very little, I assure you). PS used to be more of an extended family, IMO.
