Re: Help! Need opinions about this cushion cut diamond *PICS

If you meant that the prongs would be set on the straight sides, not the corners I'm not sure it's a secure way to set a stone. But I am not a jeweler, so you need to know from a jeweler if it is.

I'd take the bigger stone. Easily.

I'm so happy you got her input. See how great that certainty is? Now you'll know she'll love it!

Re: E-ring advice needed, feeling overwhelmed!

Infinity Diamonds are a branded line. They are the top of the top of ideal hearts and arrows diamonds they are so precisely cut. The JA True Hearts are generic Hearts and Arrows and while they are very nice, they are not as precisely cut. Some have very perfect hearts and arrows, some do not have pe...

Re: Jewelry you are glad you DIDN'T buy...

So many settings I considered for my asscher before I picked the plain shank halo.
An expensive string of pearls. I never wear pearl strands.

There aren't that many pieces that I am happy I didn't buy.

Re: Awesome Setting or Awesome Diamond?

OH! I just remembered this setting: https://www.etsy.com/listing/161179813/14k-white-gold-engraved-vintage-antique?ref=shop_home_active_15 Which I ADORE. And it's ONLY 400! And it can take any of the stones above. All you would do is buy the setting and have it sent to the stone vendor and they'll s...

Re: Awesome Setting or Awesome Diamond?

I think it's important to love your ring. But no, on a 3000 budget, I don't recommend spending half the budget on a setting. Super thin bands are not durable. And frankly they are not attractive on the large majority of people. Have you tried the setting on? This is what I recommend: http://www.stul...

Re: Thoughts on this stone? (ASET, Ideal Scope, Pic, Specs)

We move every couple years (so tired of it) and I always find a decent local jeweler. It can take a bit of time time because the majority of jewelers suck, but I always find one that's good enough for cleaning, polishing and checking my pieces over. Usually stores with in house benches... Where are ...

Re: Thoughts on this stone? (ASET, Ideal Scope, Pic, Specs)

Ok. I can see the scans now.

Can they get you an idealscope?

The ASET looks very strong. SO you don't HAVE to have the idealscope, but it is nice to have.

I'd buy it.

I have some practice picking them. But here's a short cut for you: http://www.pricescope.com/diamond-search-results If you use the above search and pick "excellent" for HCA score only then all the stones will be under 2. It's the fastest way to find selection. I don't see the images for th...

They do have VERY similar performance. But I think #2 is more cushiony. Which I know is the look you want.

Re: The hunt continues... Modern Cushion Cut

I think 2 is the best for you. Why? It's more cushiony and less square than the others. And it is the one that is going to look the most like the pic you posted. I wouldn't go on faith with a diamond purchase. In my 9 years on the boards I've seen exactly TWO "friend" transactions where th...

Re: Thoughts on this stone? (ASET, Ideal Scope, Pic, Specs)

The entire purpose of faceting a diamond is to reflect light. How well or how poorly a diamond does this determines how beautiful it is. How well a diamond performs is determined by the angles and cutting. This is why we say cut is king. No other factor: not color, not clarity has as much of an impa...

Re: Thoughts on this stone? (ASET, Ideal Scope, Pic, Specs)

Look. There is a reason it's cheap. It's a 60/60 with a bad pavillion angle. http://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/60-60-proportioned-diamond 60/60's are discounted because so many of them, like yours, perform poorly. Will you get a 2.20 for the price with better performance. Maybe not. Because pe...

UM. That is a TERRIBLE diamond. That ASET is horrendous.

I hope they don't have it in.

Seriously. Return it now. Or cancel hte purchase.

And learn to read an ASET. http://www.winkjones.com/index.php?page=education-performance

Just becareful and make sure you get CADs from BE. You don't want it to turn out all awkward like this: http://www.pricescope.com/files/images/74501_797339089067_15606488_42617833_697318_n.jpg But is more like this: http://www.pricescope.com/forum/download/file.php?id=71041 I recommend bright cut pa...

Re: Tiffany basket cathedral style setting. Where?

You can't wear a flush fit band next to it. You'll get a big gap. BGD, WF, ERD/BE could easily make that for you if you want it though. But there are better settings out there, IMO for an asscher solitaire.

BE can do that for you very simply. I do not recommend setting your stone that way though. Ask BE what they think. Yes, you can have the setting made by one vendor and buy the stone from another. But it's better to have the setting sent to the stone vendor and have the stone vendor set it. Why? They...
