Re: Ideal cut vs very good

Put this stone on hold and ask for an ASET image: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/1.01-carat-f-color-si1-clarity-sku-807359 It's a nice rock. Also this one: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/1.01-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-854894 Pair the winner with this...

Re: Help finding 3-4 carat oval

The G VVs stone is very different from that JA four main. The facet patterns are very different as you know, and so they just have very different looks. And I don't have an ASET on the JA. The only thing that concerns me on that G VVS is the facets at either end of the stone. As for the one I've sai...

I don't agree on the ASET front. Re: Need help deciding!

There is no ASET or IS posted. Those are hearts and arrows, patterning not performance, images only. Not helpful.

What are the numbers on that stone.

Re: Help with Cushion Cut please

Hi. A large stone color shows more. That said there isn't a lot of selection at that weight range. So, where are you located? I think you should go see a 3 carat H color next to other colors and see what your personal preferences are. Unless you are ready to buy this week, there's not much point in ...

Re: Down to 2 diamonds- please PLEASE help!!

I've tried that setting on. It's too thin and didn't look nice on the hand at all, and not just mine. A couple of other ladies there tried it on too. So I recommend you try the setting on locally, at a Vatche dealer. I like the WF stone too. I recommend this setting instead, though it has 4 prongs n...

Re: Five stone band - claw prong

Yeah, under 30 points a SARIN and an idealscope of each stone is fine with me. That's all I need. 30 and over, lab report.

Re: Radiant Cut Grading Help?

1. You cannot buy a radiant by the numbers. They are nothing like rounds. So posting just a lab report is meaningless. 2. No labs grade radiants for cut. 3. Vendor cut grades and scores are meaningless. So 'ideal' or 'excellent' ratings by vendors are actually more harmful than helpful. 4. You have ...

Re: Second Diamond....thoughts

It's a 60/60 style stone. The table is generally larger than we ideally want ( you will see the recommended specs in my last post ) at 61% but it's not a deal breaker if the price is really good.

Re: Absolute Newb: Where to start?

Yeah. A) 8-10k is NOT cheapo. B) Your brother is dating the wrong sort of women. And C) this is something you HAVE to talk to her about. As for how to do it: Nike's has it right! Just do it. It's really the only way.

You are in luck. diamondseeker is local to you. Post another thread sharing your experience and asking local jewler recommendations titled " Local jeweler in Charlotte, NC." And see what the local peeps say.

Neil, I don't care about being right. And I am sorry if my posts were unsympathetic. I think the thing for me is that I've been involved a lot of wedding drama in my life. Re: Need help deciding!

The diamond will appear small. I've seen it with my own eyes. You want red there. Otherwise the stone will not look its size. I would not buy the stone. As for a six prong setting, just make sure that your lady doesn't want a perfectly flush fit wedding band next to her engagement ring. Most stock 6...

The G Vs2 stone are pretty much as safe as houses even without an IS or ASET. But I personally would want one and expect my vendor to accommodate me.

I've requested some idealscope and aset test images, will update when I get it. These diamonds from jamesallen all have a type fluorescence. Neither.

First one has compromised performance at the edges (green where there should be red) and the second one has too much leakage.

What is your budget?
