Re: Need help: .70-.80 RB + similar setting to this for $350

I just noticed the diamond you have on hold has a crown angle of 32 degrees which seems too shallow, not sure if I'm looking at the wrong stone http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07314492 In your opinion, what's an acceptable angle? What affect would the 32 degree have on the look of the sto...

Re: Need help: .70-.80 RB + similar setting to this for $350

Just got done with BN and that stone has no cloudy or oily effects from the fluorescence, so that's good. I've got it on a 48 hour hold while I consider the other options. I reached out to David Klass by email (maybe i have the wrong address?) yesterday, but haven't heard anything back from him yet...

Re: Help evaluating this RB / 1.7 /G/ SI1

Crown is too low. Chipping risk.

You want these stats if you are shopping in person:
Table: 60 or less.
Depth: 59-62.3
Pavilion: 40.6-40.9
Crown: 33.5-35

Keep looking.

I am not crazy about the cavity either for a ring stone.

Pinto, I have those two Leon's on my short list!!! Soooo gorg! Gypsy, where does that first setting with the French cuts along the shank come from? That's awfully pretty...wonder if DK could do something like that for me... First setting is not french cuts. Just straight and tapered baguettes. And ...

Re: help! evaluating round diamonds - first time! ~1tcw

The first one is out. That is not a twinning wisp and will NOT be clean. The second one, ask JA to have their gemologist examine the stone for any type of transparency issue with the grade setting cloud. The third one is a great stone. No issues for earrings assuming it is eyeclean (ask). You can EA...

Re: Calling EC experts - opinions please!

So, I love Pinto's setting. But it doesn't allow for a close fit band.

No bezel. That particular stone is going to darken, so stick to prongs with a very open basket that lets in a lot of light. Here are my suggestions.

If this one isn't showing any negative effects from the fluorescence this is a nice stone: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07314492?click_id=75797297 Put it on hold ask for an image and for the stone to be examined for milky or haziness by a gemologist. That's one of those subjects that bored me to tears. There are a ton of threads on here that have covered the subject in minute detail. Use the search function at the top of the screen to pull them up, and read through the information posted. Make up your own mind.

Re: Search is on for a RB 1.1ct - 1.2ct!

I would respond and say, "please confirm that the diamond has been examined and the cloud is not causing any haziness or transparency issues." About the H. If so, get it. Take it to a Hearts on Fire dealer Compare it with their stones. Make sure you see no haze.

Re: Need help: .70-.80 RB + similar setting to this for $350

Yeah. A J in rose gold is going to be fine. And you don't need to go up in size. 80 points will only get your .3mm in size. The halo will obscure that. So it's not money well spent. A 70 point and an 80 point stone are going to look much the same in that setting. I understand your concerns. But the ...

I'm pretty sure that setting by itself costs almost your entire budget. It's going to be hard to match in your budget. Here are some that are in the ballpark: http://www.beverleyk.com/halo/r9412-a-d-d-cz.html Best setting for your budget. But the design isn't that close. Pearlmans carries Beverly K....

You can also find a Beverly K vendor (Pearlmans is who I recommend) and get a quote on this setting and ask for more pictures:

hearts and arrows images aren't helpful. ASETs or Idealscopes would have been. But those are safe enough to buy without it.

Alternately, and this would be my recommendation. Buy that diamond, and have Daniel K custom make that same setting style for your lady. Re: Need help looking for 1.3-1.5 ct Round $7,500

Okay so, we're not going for that setting. We'll go for the same style, but from a different vendor. Let's focus on the princess. Princesses, at the same carat weight, are much smaller than rounds. How much stretch do you have for your budget, comfortably? Is it possible to bump total budget to 10k?...
