Re: What's the right price for this clarity enhanced diamond

Yes, CE stones are a very bad way to spend your money. I honestly would buy a good simulant over a CE diamond. There are all kinds of problems CE stones can have. I suggest looking for a smaller GIA graded diamond instead. You can put it into a halo setting to make it look larger if you want. Agree...

Re: Need your thoughts on an antique cushion please!

Very pretty. Can you get it in person and see if you like it before the return period is over and before you set it?

Re: Need help finding a bargain 1ct Asscher ($3K-4.5k)

I like this stone, I didn't find it because I kept to over 95 points. But if this one is eyeclean, I'd pre-empt the J stone I posted above with this one: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/asscher-cut/0.94-carat-f-color-si2-clarity-sku-294380 It also may have a P3 angle issue, but we'll see th...

Re: Need help finding a bargain 1ct Asscher ($3K-4.5k)

Only three worth a second glance at JA, and none of them is without issues. I think the GOG is going to be the winner. Still you can put on hold and ask for an ASET. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/asscher-cut/1.02-carat-j-color-vs2-clarity-sku-247622 That large step isn't going to ASET out...

Re: Need help finding a bargain 1ct Asscher ($3K-4.5k)

No One grades asschers for cut you have to shop for faceting and light performance so you have to stick with vendors who have images and offer ASETs, you best bets are therefore JA and GOG. Your depth and table are unnecessarily restrictive and will result in too many nice stones being thrown out. D...

Re: Need advice on DIFFICULT neighbor

I know there is a cultural difference here - I don't live in the states - so I'm finding the rush to lawyers and cops and signs with guns on them really erm 'culturally interesting'. If there has been no actual destruction, hey maybe the ad hoc pipe system has actually been improved - I would hold ...

Re: Possible to find a truly one of a kind cut/setting

I think with your budget, I would get a Beverley k setting so you can spend more on your center stone. You could look for an antique stone or get this and put it into one of the BK halos: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11913/ Now this would be unique, because there are very few ideal cut Europe...

Oreo does seem to love investigating anything and everything I'm eating (or have already eaten) She also tore open a bag of bread and made her way to the top of the fridge. Pictures really don't show how tiny she is but she is the most food-motivated cat I have ever seen in my life. I know of...

Re: 20 Stabbed at Pittsburgh area high school

I just want to clarify my thoughts when I wrote earlier that the last thing I wanted at the school I work at is to have armed guards. My school has a School Resource Officer (SRO) who wears a bullet-proof vest and carries a gun. I am very happy we have an SRO and believe it does very much add to th...

Re: Diamond and Engagement Ring Advice

What do you want to know that the BGD listing doesn't tell you? AGS0 with a perfect idealscope. Great numbers and 7mm spread. Safe strong blue. Great color and eyeclean. What's not to like? Excellent stone. Eternity by Yoni is reputable. That doesn't mean you should skip your due diligence and ask f...

Oh, and only do the rhodium plating if the color on the stones is above I and the clarity is above SI1.

Re: Diamond and Engagement Ring Advice

Those are all CAD images. I would not buy a halo from CAD only images. You need to ask for real life pictures of precious halos.

Re: Trade in gold ring with diamond?

Go to a jeweler have it cleaned up. Find out what the carat weight is and what the approximate color and clarity of the stones is. Spend 45 dollars to have it dipped in rhodium. Then come back here and we'll tell you what to put as your reserve price to list it on ebay.

Re: Can you guys give me advice one more time:)

A polish isn't a bad thing, but there is some risk as polishing means the cutting wheel (there is no other way to polish a diamond). I've done it to my own stones and would do it for yours if it were mine. It made a big difference in the safety and security of my stone. And I didn't lose much sprea...

Re: First engagement ring 3k budget

The entire purpose of faceting a diamond is to reflect light. How well or how poorly a diamond does this determines how beautiful it is. How well a diamond performs is determined by the angles and cutting. This is why we say cut is king. No other factor: not color, not clarity has as much of an impa...

Re: what are your thoughts on this diamond?

It's a 60/60 http://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/60-60-proportioned-diamond The pavillion angle is within the safe range. I'd still want an idealscope image but BN doesn't provide that. And it doesn't appear to have the GCAL report their signature ideal stones do. But I have to say it's a GREAT ...
