Re: Protecting furniture from cat scratching

Well, I try to buy furniture that is cat friendly-- or at least not a cat magnet. A lot of that comes from trial and error. I also recommend buying a lot of cat furniture though. It does help. I have 6 cats and one 7 foot cat tree and two 5 foot ones. In addition to other things that they like. Micr...

Re: *calling gypsy, etc* need help deciding on custom design

http://www.pricescope.com/forum/download/file.php?id=41830 So I can't find the original ring. It's by Locke's who is now out of business. But the halo on the right side is close. I think it would look nice with tapered baguettes on the shank instead of that pave. You can see if the link below works...

Re: What does your Summer Reading List look like?

I really have to recommend, that if you can, see if anyone near you is planning on doing a summer Shakespeare production of King Lear. I was an English Major so I've read well... a lot of the items on your list and here are my thoughts. 1. Canterbury tales. Honestly, if you can get this on tape and ...

Re: Custom made ring - not happy with final product?

To clarify the above. I personally do use BGD for more creative projects too. And they've done a great job and Brian can read my mind. But the design did not progress without my approval at each stage regardless, and I get a CAD of the design to approve before execution. Now that may mean, Brian and...

Re: Custom made ring - not happy with final product?

Thank you Christina! I missed you too. MG--- here's the thing about custom. You have to understand how that vendor works, and pick the right one for your expectations. NOT just for the final product. But for the process itself. Here's what I mean. I can be an 'every little detail' person too. There ...

Re: Custom made ring - not happy with final product?

Testing my posting ability. Sorry. Okay so. I agree with Enerchi on this topic. I would just be really honest. I personally like the contrast of step and brilliant cuts. But if you wanted brilliant cut sides and didn't get them, I can see how you would be disappointed. Still, is there a way they can...

Re: Cut-Cornered Rectangular Step Cut-Unusual Diamond!

Just to clarify for the newer members and lurkers. It's a step cut. It in no way resembles a radiant. It's not even a modified step cut like a tycoon. It's just got very big corners and the shape is more octagonal than the 'classic' EC shape. The faceting plot on it will be just like any other step ...

Re: IYO...what college degree will give you...

Also, you can work in a field that you love, but still be miserable because your employer/workplace/coworkers are insufferable. This is very true. I used to think I hated my job path. I don't. I resent that I wasn't allowed to pursue the paths I was most interested in and suited for when I was youn...

Nice to see you too ruby and thank you! Hi Pinto! Thank you too! Ruby, I am happy your kids are happy in their chosen paths. That's what matters ultimately. Re: IYO...what college degree will give you...

Life is not about money. It's about happiness. And if you are unhappy at your job/career no matter how much money you make, you aren't going to be happy period. I think the best bang for buck is listening to your children, not just what they say, but listening to who they really are and observing wh...

Re: Who buys the bands

You are correct, tradition dictates you buy her e-ring and her wedding band, and she buys yours. But these days, I don't think most people go by "tradition" in much of anything! Exactly. We jointly bought our bands. But we had our finances integrated for 8 years before we got married! Wha...

Re: Anybody have any Ippolita, Slane and Slane, etc. sterlin

If you want silver chains, I recommend signing up for a Rio Grande account. And for gold chains too. And other findings. I use them for a range of things I buy. For example, I'm allergic to the weird metals used in all the fun fashion earrings I like to buy at places like banana republic, old navy, ...

Re: That time of the year...to discuss fantasy books

Lightbringer has SEVERAL big surprises in the second book. His writing is like that. You read the first book and think you have things mostly figured out then BAM in the second book he turns things on their head. Happens in the Night Angel series too. From the first book the series seems to be about...

Re: The amount of $$$ for register wedding gifts...

I think there needs to be a range. I had $10 items (and several of them), $20, $30... I also a few 250-400 range items and had two $500 items. Many of which were purchased for us. I also had several piece of furniture on the registry -- NOT because I expected any one to buy them, but rather because ...

Re: Need some help...is this look dated?

I don't think it looks dated. But I don't like the height difference between the rings (or how much the sapphire band sticks up and out) or the sapphires in the band as they are too dark for me. If you want a band like this, I think this one here would be a great choice (I've seen it in person and i...

Re: Cut-Cornered Rectangular Step Cut-Unusual Diamond!

I think it's a beautiful shape and has nice potential. There is obstruction, but you are going to get that with a lot of step cuts-- it just depends on the degree. If it looks like a bowtie, pass, if it just looks like patterning and flashes only rarely, keep. I think an ASET would be my next step.

Re: Asscher Eternity Band Against an Old European Diamond???

I think they can look awesome together. Honestly all the antique settings I love are from the deco period and combine baguettes and OECs. And I think they go REALLY well together. And an asscher band, as long as the style isn't too modern would be just lovely with an OEC.

Gypsy, I've not heard of that series-I'll check it out! It was very good. The books are relatively short in actual length, but don't feel that way, if you know what I mean. It's a very interesting series-- and is very much a full series and tells a single story from beginning to end. Let me know if...

Re: Hubby bad reaction to re-set idea

Time, definitely. Also eventually make sure you explain you are sentimental about your set, plan on keeping your diamond, and you would set your daughter's birthstone in it, and wear it on occasion and pass it to her when she turns 18.
