Re: 3 Stone OEC CADs from David Klass.

Think I'm also going to have them widen the shank by .75mm all over. Right now the bottom is 1.6mm. The base of the basket is too skinny and the ring is too top heavy so it'll probably spin a lot. That will widen the basket and make it look more like the original. I feel like the petals in the curre...

3 Stone OEC CADs from David Klass.

I have CADs! The first picture is what they sent me. I asked that they modify it for round stones, and turn the middle to 6 prongs. In doing so, the angular petals seemed to have rounded off. I'm going to ask that they make it more angular like the original. Might also have the center raised just a ...

Re: Your 2016 Bling Project?

For number 3,Are you doing sapphires too? Or rubies or something else? I considered rubies, but am going with a medium blue. I wear a lot of blue and I just love everything about Artdecolover's ring. Picked up the plastic today and it is the perfect size! That makes sense. I think if you're going w...

Re: Tacky question

Depends on where you bought the 2ct diamond. I bid and won (pretty much stole) a beautiful 1.99ct GIA fancy light yellow oec diamond for my husband's sister for $2400. I'd hate for people to judge her based on her diamond.

Re: Three stone setting suggestions!

I decided to go with the first DK ring... it kept calling to me and I really like the profile design. I've asked that they create CADs for 3 rounds and will post it here once I get it from them. HOWEVER, I do need to set a 6.7mm oec with 5mm tsavs once the oec comes back from GIA, so that ring will ...

Re: My first DK project! Diamonds, sapphires and bezels - oh

Sorry, I posted in the wrong window. Deleted earlier post.

I meant to write that your picture looks amazing! This ring is just perfect. With your blessing, I contacted DK and he is making one for me.
Re: Three stone setting suggestions!

The center is 7.4mm, sides are 6.1mm. Victor's Lily is pretty but the side looks kind of like a typical basket. I was looking for more detail on the profile. I like the Orchid from the top but not so sure about the profile. Really not a fan of the support bar... both due to aesthetic reason and it a...

Re: Three stone setting suggestions!

Thanks for the suggestions! Has anyone seen any 3 stone ideas with 6 prongs in the middle? I would feel more comfortable if it wasn't so exposed given my clumsiness.

Re: Three stone setting suggestions!

DS, the sidestones will have to be tucked under the center a little, and angled down, but it should fit. I took a picture of them sitting on top of an empty 3 stone setting I have sitting around, and they look good! Lemme find it.

Three stone setting suggestions!

This is the year I'm setting ALL the stones!! Too bad I've been out of the settings game so long that I'm unable to narrow anything down. Been going around and around in this 3-stone circus, and it's given me tunnel vision. :knockout: Anyone seen any nice profiles that aren't the typical basket styl...

Re: Where / in what lighting does your diamond look its best

Most days outdoors in sunny CA, even when it's cloudy. And of course, Costco and Home Depot. Not inside my house because I have ugly beige walls and bad lighting, but that's okay because I don't wear anything at home.

Re: Help with OEC M VS1 (pictures)

Some jewelers have calipers that can go under the setting to get the depth measurements. I see what you're saying, and I've seen it in one oec I own. Mine is a shallower stone at 58% and doesn't scintilate as well as other oecs with 62-66% depth, but it can look amazing under most lighting. Shallowe...

Re: Your 2016 Bling Project?

These projects are currently in progress: 1) 3.35ctw three stone oec ring. Diamonds just got back from GIA and David Klass will be starting as soon as I can decide on a profile design! 1.57ct N VS1, 0.90 J VS1, 0.88 K SI1. (came back exactly as I predicted so I'm thrilled!) 2) 2.01ctw oec earrings. ...

Re: I just threw my try out ring into the toilet

We keep our toilet lids down when it's not in use because the cats like to play with the water. That would prevent a lot of stuff falling in by accident.

Re: GIA Cut Rated Good, With HCA of 1?

I was hoping you'd post, ForteKitty. I hope you'll reconsider being embarrassed. This is a great educational diamond! Where some pros would dismiss it right away due to depth/spread, inside the numbers I'm convinced it's a little fireball. In fact, depth notwithstanding, the basic proportions are c...

Hi and Merry Christmas! It was NOT my intention to embarrass you, and I apologize that it has. I really saw it as a chance to learn something, along with having some actual interest in the stone itself. I wasn't going to spill the beans that it was yours, but this thread really took off, and the wo...

Re: GIA Cut Rated Good, With HCA of 1?

Hi Andelain! Someone alerted me to this. I'm actually a little embarrassed it's being discussed here since since it isn't an ideal cut MRB. The diamond is very pretty but definitely isn't perfect, so it probably isn't the right stone for someone who is used to perfect symmetry. John's rendering look...

Re: Amber necklace for teething

I brew some chamomile tea and dip a washcloth in it, then throw it in a ziplock bag and put it in the fridge. When it bothers him I rub the washcloth on his gums. Sometimes it helps, sometimes he gets pissed and tries to bite me.
