Re: pink halo settings for princess cut diamond

I myself am always searching for the perfect `rounded/ roundish` halo princess setting (for my Mum). She also likes the Harry Winston look. So far she has decided it`s too risky to do as a design.

Re: Australia & GST

Why not have the vendor wait to send the stone until you are overseas then? No sense having it come into a country liable for 10% tax, only to be taken out a short time later. Like you said before, without the purchase being an Australian one, getting GST back will likely be impossible. 100% this!

Re: pink halo settings for princess cut diamond

Did Leon specify why he didn't want the project? Did he say he prefers not to work on halos for princesses at all, or your princess specifically? Did he elaborate on why he doesn't think it's a good idea? I ask for a couple of reasons... Leon is a master of a specific aesthetic, and given that you ...

Re: Help with Pear CAD .

I`m wondering if the yellow halo is very big compared to your inspiration ring yellow halo. Ie the ratio of yellow halo to centre diamond will either make it look chunky or delicate. Experts can give better advice on what you have chosen, but to me the yellow part looks slightly overwhelming, rather...

Re: Floral, Antique, Project, in the works!

Also perhaps you should get the ering first as the rose gold on both rings might be different and you wont be able to swap the ering as easily.

What a beautiful fabulous story. I love it all! And I do think your gal might have had a tiny thought about an engagement when the box came out! lol But, I am 100% sure that she is of such sound mind and emotions that she would not have been any less excited by the fact that it was a stunning thank ...

BGD story of a (fish eye) diamond makeover/ recut !

Hi, as some of you might remember, I was on a mission to get a very poor perfoming dull diamond recut, all the way from Australia (for years now). It sounds simple now that it has been done.....but back in the beginning when I had NO idea of how to post (expensive) things OS, or about our stupid GST...

Re: Need help- Oz GST laws when recut diamond is posted back

Thanks everyone for the help and advice so far. Today I was told that getting my diamond graded by GIA for a report would NOT attract GST on my diamond per say. Plus even getting it recut would NOT attract GST on my diamond. But, if I failed to fill out the correct paperwork before getting the diamo...

Re: Need help- Oz GST laws when recut diamond is posted back

I agree with nomissjane that you should try to clarify beforehand, but I can see how your situation could be considered different and exempt from GST. Since nomissjane purchased a new setting, she didn't technically own it for the required 12 month period to qualify as an "unaccompanied person...

Re: Need help- Oz GST laws when recut diamond is posted back

It is mind blowing that getting a diamond reset or set attracts GST when posted back to OZ on the previously owned diamond! Especially in the cases of the diamond being the main value with a very small percentage of total value being the setting! That`s just robbery. :angryfire:

Re: Need help- Oz GST laws when recut diamond is posted back

Thanks everyone.I will ring the tax department. I would be surprised to hear that a pre owned diamond sent to America only for a GIA certificate would attract GST? The recut is a repair as far as I know, especially if it is having scratches and chips polished out. But I`m not sure if the tax departm...

Re: Calling Yssie, Dreamer_D - Please advise

Is it a possibility for this diamond to be firery and with better light return if it has its lower facets (pavillion) recut? Just out of curiosity? Not that I am advicing to buy a diamond that needs recutting from the outset.

Re: paying tax twice

Wow, I`m really surprised that the store couldn`t treat the first sale as a total return (especially as it is within a month from sale date) and refund all relevant taxes, and then process the new sale. I`m sure they would have a measure of discretion to do this instead of what they are doing in tre...

Wow, nine years!!!! I can`t believe how time flies. I must admit I`m loving the `new` look. Re: I hope I don't sound ungrateful, but...

I personally would hold off on the engagement because there seems to be a lack of communication between you. In life there will always be hard decisions and challenges that you will need to face head on together. If he is making you jump through hoops to get a ring, I can`t imagine what else he will...

Re: WWPSD? Live w/ it? Return to original B&M? New w/PS Vend

I agree with Charmy, ask them to fix it one more time--with a different manufacturer. IIRC you are in Canada and I have seen one manufacturer with that (*sorry*) hideous 'white gold' alloy and I was speechless the first time I saw it, I felt so bad for the owner. I can't even describe what it looks...

Re: WWPSD? Live w/ it? Return to original B&M? New w/PS Vend

I once had a ring made up that looked like that and it turned out that the person making it used a really cheap alloy that he mixed in with the gold. It was unfixable even with repeated rhodeum platings. It upsets me to this day as it was a full priced transaction that cost over $3000. In your case ...
