17 wouldn't be a mistake if it were 17 on each side. I was under the impression in was 17 total however.
There should be an even number of diamonds total in the shank if you want both sides to be exactly the same. 17 total means that one side could have 8 and one side could have 9. Or 7 and 10, etc. So if you have 26, than you have 13 on both sides, making both sides the same. Can you post a pic of the setting? |
