I am not really too familiar with Kay's, and I've heard mixed opinions/reviews. Here's a thread that touches on all things "Kay" a bit. I don't know if it will give you a clear picture, but it might help. You can also search "Kay jeweler" on here, and get more threads.
As far as BN, it used to be they wouldn't sell any of their settings without a diamond (bought from them also). Recently I believe their policy has changed, and they will sell "some" without a stone, but it appears to be selective, so you'd need to call and ask about the particular one you are interested in. If the GOG setting doesn't work out, and you go one of these routes, you are on the right track having GOG set the stone. That's the one thing you do want to do. ![]() |

I appreciate the input everyone! I do not have a picture of the Kay setting. It is not on their website and they were not open to me taking a picture in store. These are the 2 closest I could find.
Simon G Blue Nile I know my significant other likes the Blue Nile one also for sure, but they will not sell the setting alone. I have not showed her the Simon G one yet. I am going to a local B&M tonight to hopefully take a look in person. I also checked into getting the BN one replicated at GOG, but it''s looking like it will be quite a bit more expensive and I''m thinking out of my price range. |

Hmmmm I would show Bill Pearlman the images and see what he comes up with.
He has worked with Jon before so their is no issue there. http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/ |

There are a few from Tacori that might work.
$2140 http://www.tacori.com/TACORI-SRCH/ENGAGEMENT/2565RD9-A-4-1-0-/ $1450 (I'm sure you could do another shaped stone in here) http://www.tacori.com/TACORI-SRCH/ENGAGEMENT/2573PR7-A-4-1-5-/ I'll keep searching...Oh, and I have a tacori and it is AMAZING. ETA GOG works with tacori as well |

A bit pricier, $2570 http://www.tacori.com/TACORI-SRCH/ENGAGEMENT/2578RD9-A-4-1-25-/
$3030 http://www.tacori.com/TACORI-SRCH/ENGAGEMENT/2627RDLG-A-4-1-110-/ Here''s the round version of the one above $1450 http://www.tacori.com/TACORI-SRCH/ENGAGEMENT/2573MDRD-A-4-1-120-/ A little different take on the split shank, $2400 http://www.tacori.com/TACORI-SRCH/ENGAGEMENT/2633RD75-A-4-1-135-/ There are a couple more that seem to fit, but they are all over $3k, if you want me to post them I can! |

James Allen lets you buy the setting separately. Here are a couple pretty ones, both under 1900

Here''s another one, not a split shank but very sweet (650)
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/Antique-looking-Bezel-Pave.html I ditto the others. I associate Kay''s with fashion jewelry, fun but I would want something a grade better for engagement ring. If you can imagine an engagement ring is something that''s going to have daily wear for 30 years, want something solid. |
