Has anyone here bought a used Simon G or similar setting and had a stone put in it? I just got one of these, https://www.simongjewelry.com/product/tr160-engagement-ring/ on ebay, and am thinking of having a sapphire put in it. It's even within one size of being what I need.

Although I do have a homeless .83 ct MRB.... :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

If you have a good return policy and a good ebay vendor and a good Simon G retailer to check it out, I think you'd be fine. It's pretty.

Have you checked out the beverly K deals on ebay though? Star Diamond Jewelry has had a bunch of them for months now, new ones added all the time, others sold consistently.

I'd be looking at one of these if i had a homeless stone (ignore carat weight of suggested center and go with measurements):

I'd best offer 200-250 or so off the prices listed. You can always go up if they reject or counter.

I really like the first YG one, may go after it later. The setting I just picked up is used, already a size 8, and went for $510. I just couldn't pass it up for that. I can see it's had a stone mounted in it, but can't tell if the prongs will need retipping or not.

A native cut sapphire might have too deep of a belly to fit, so you might need a precision cut stone.

A good bench will tell you that. You got a great price on it. I like it.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

But I'll give you 3 guesses what else is being considered for this setting.... ;-) :naughty: :Up_to_something:

Andelain, I have to admit I am a bit jealous here. That setting is 110% gorgeous. I've tried it on and almost went with it for my re-set, but then didn't. Anyway, I'm super excited to see what you do with it and I hope you love it as much as I did. Congrats on a great find! :appl:

I've got a local guy I'm starting to work with. He's resetting my AVR-C proto right now. I'm sure he won't rake me over too bad if the prongs do need work. The one thing I may not like is it looks like the maker's mark will have to be cut in order to size it up one. Oh well.
