Hi!

A few months back I wrote on Rockytalk about being undecided between quality and quantity on a budget. My boyfriend now proposed and I really really like my ring, a simple diamond solitaire!! However, I'm kind of thinking I wanting it a little bigger. But I don't know if it is worth the change. It is still under the 60 day return policy.

These are the characteristics of my diamond:
Carat weight: 0.81
Cut: Excellent
Color: G
Clarity: VS1
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 61.8%
Table: 57.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle:
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.96*5.99*3.70
Crown Angle: 34.5
Crown %: 15.00
Pavilion Angle: 41.0

It scored a 1.9 on the HCA.

But here is the new rock I am drooling about:
Shape: Round
Carat Weight: 0.92
Cut: Excellent
Color: H
Clarity: VS2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 61.8%
Table: 55.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle:
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.22*6.24*3.85
Crown: 34.5
Angle: 40.6
HCA score: 0.8

What do you guys think??

Thanks so much!

Thank you ladies! I wasn't sure if I was just being greedy wanting a slightly bigger diamond. But then I ran it through the HCA tool, and the result is much better! There is a $395 dollar difference. Is it worth it?

As long as the same setting works for it. I wouldn't pay more AND need a new setting for that jump in size. But just that much is acceptable to me.

It would be worth it to me, the size difference isn't going to be huge, but your cost isn't either. .01mm is the same width as a sheet of copy paper, so your talking about 2.5 sheets of diameter...visible, but not huge. I'd get the idealscope and see what you think then.

Will I be able to see a difference in sparkle between a score of 1.9 and 0.8 HCA? The 1.9 score received an excellent on light return but very good on fire. The 0.8 got excellent on both.
