Here is a picture of the ring I am getting made from my original wedding jewelry. I'm going for maximum sparkle on the halo to accentuate my diamonds.

Opinions on milgrain. Should I get it? If so, on the whole ring? Just the halo? Or is it good as it?

Also - Is it common for people to wear this type of ring without a wedding band, or does that made it look incomplete? Size of center stone is 0.56, not sure of size of full halo but it has significant presence on my hand.

I hope this helps [and think it would look really nice on your pretty ring].

You should go for whole ring milgrain, just a halo milgrain won't make any change.
Also, it is common for wearing this type of ring and I guess it will look more gorgeous when wore with a plain platinum wedding band(if yours is), or if you have some different type of wedding band then I don't think it will suit up them.
Btw nice ring you'll have.
And Jimmianne your all rings are marvelous.

Milgrain on the halo and split shank would be my vote.

What a fantastic before and after Jimmianne! It really shows how the milgrain adds texture and sparkle and just makes the ring look more finely finished. Beautiful rings!

thanks!
I wore the ring for a while before having the milgrain done ...[so that is always an option], but I must say I was pleased with the addition of those little dots : )

It's a beautiful ring as is. But I am always one to say yes to milgrain! I love it!

It is another design element that is very much a personal choice.

I prefer the look of shiny metal, hence I am against millgrain on my jewellery.

For me, your setting has an antique feel to it. I'd add the milgrain.

I think for the majority of antique rings, look much nicer with milgrain....so I agree with the whole ring being milgrained....

Milgrain to break up some of the metal look.
