Hi,

Have seen today a GIA certified Diamond 1.7 ct

Colour I
Clarity VS2
Cut Grade Good
Polish Very Good
Symm Good
Fluor None

Table 56%
Depth 61.9%

Girdle very thin -very thick (faceted)

Crown angle 33 degrees
Pavilion angle 40 degrees

Diamond is final priced at $10,300 - is this a good deal?

Any help very much appreciated.

With shallow angles and part of the girdle "very thin" it would be very easy to chip that stone............

Too shallow...I am not an expert by any means, but if my fiance was going to spend $10,000, he would want a better color as well for that price.

The pavilion and crown angles are very shallow. Light return will be less than optimal. I wouldn''t buy it for anywhere near the asking price but others may disagree on that point.

Velvet,

Here''s two to consider.

This one from BN (I wonder why it''s so cheap really, at $9434 wire price)

and this one from WF for $1000 more, based on wire purchase.

Both are a little smaller than you seem to be looking for, at 1.6 vs 1.7, but both come with AGS triple zero ratings.

Maybe the ERD guy (or anyone you show the diamond details to who sells diamonds in NY) can let you see the BN one, too, presuming it''s not in house.

Regards,
