Long time lurker, first time poster :) I truly appreciate this forum and everyone''s postings. I''m in the market for an engagement ring and have already learned a great deal through your help... many thanks.

I''m looking at these two stones'' Ideal Scope and am posting my thoughts for your comment...

D1
D2

D1 looks like a better Ideal Scope as it seemingly has a sharper contrast and symmetry compared with D2. However notice in the bottom right between 4 and 5 o''clock there is a significant white return. Both diamonds are ideal cut, both AGS reports list additional clouds not shown, HCA .7 and .9 respectively. D1 is a VS2, D2 is a VS1, though the Ideal Scope in D2 looks somewhat sloppy for lack of a better term.

Seemingly all else being equal (besides price) - is D1 a better diamond given my perceived better IS symmetry even with this strange white return and lower cut grade, or D2 without the white return and what looks a bit more loose symmetry?
