Hi all,

Firstly, this is a great resource for the first time engagement ring buyer. The mountain of photos in the "bling" thread is extremely useful.

I like a Steven Kirsch ring (below). Has anyone posted photos of this actual ring to PS? I've looked through, what seems like thousands of pics, but don't thinnk I've seen this particular setting.

Regards,

Peter.

Really what I'm after in an engagement ring is 'sparkle'. My budget doesn't allow for a large stone, so i'm attracted to side stones to increase the overall effect.

I think there are much more cost-effective ways to get sparkle without going with Steven Kirsch.

Hi and Welcome!!
That Steven Kirsch setting is beautiful! It is a relatively popular style so it will probably be easy to find a more cost effective option.
What is your budget and what is most important to you in terms of size, cut, clarity, color? You mentioned you want sparkle, the cut of your center stone is going to be the biggest factor in terms of sparkle. A stone with an excellent cut in a solitaire setting is going to sparkle and pop way more than a mediocre cut with side stones. I think most posters would agree with me when I say, spend most of the budget on the stone then get a setting you both love when you can afford exactly what you want. That being said here are some settings similar to the one you posted a picture of!

edit: Have you considered a halo setting? What shape center stone are you interested in?

Re: Steven Kirsch or Tiffany-style solitaire

Thanks for your replies.

I've been in contact with Steven Kirsch, and it seems i might be pushing my budget a little too far. My alternative setting is the classic six prong Tiffany-style solitaire with round brilliant. I'm attracted to the hand-made Excel Diamonds yellow gold and platinum coronet Tiffany replica. I believe they used to go by the name of Superbcert. Does their Tiffany replica still look as good as the one in the thread linked below? Does anyone want to suggest an alternative maker of a Tiffany-style six-prong setting? I'm after the finest examples. I've seen some variations on the Tiffany design where the shank tapers in a little towards the coronet, which I also liked.

One other question, I don't want any markings on the ring, except maybe a something that indicates the alloy. Certainly no brand names. Will most jewellers accommodate this requirement?

The Vatche Tiffany solitaire is getting rave reviews around here as of late as being the closest to the real Tiffany. But, a solitaire isn't going to give you the extra bling you said you wanted in your previous post. What is your budget? Maybe we can help find something that will fit the bill...

Thanks for your reply. I went for the Excel 'Tiffany replica', but the Vatche looked great too. I have a stone that looks incredible on paper and picture, can't wait to see it in person. Excel claim their ring is the best, so I'm happy to put it to the test. Certainly the examples around PS forums look great. I priced the equivalent spec's at my local Tiffany store at $9000, although I doubt Tiffany's stone is as well cut as mine. Great value is to be had when not paying for the Tiffany name. Will post pictures for the forum for those looking stones less than a carat.

If you have already placed the order, I guess it is a moot point, but I think pictures will show that the Vatche is the better Tiffany replica. In the past we did think the Excel version was best, but the Vatche was not around at that time. Here are pictures of both that were owned by the same person and he said that the Vatche was better.

I'm so glad you found a diamond you love! It will be beautiful, I am sure!
