Pretty sure you could go with something like Diamondseeker's and Sna's new setting(s), the Vatche U-113. Gorgeous setting and I'm sure they can set a OEC in there. If you want something more ornate, you can also check into the Vatche Swan. I think both settings would fit into your price range.

that is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I would call GOG, they sell Vatche. |

Dani and Skippy-I just did a search on here for the settings, and it is yummy! Mmmmmmm. I really do like that setting, and it is budget friendly

ID jewelry also sell vatch, I think they set Bliss's diamond and maybe snas too. I think the tiffany repro all the way.

I was looking a lot at Bliss's since the size of the diamond is closer to mine than any other ones on PS. Bliss's is stunning. The setting is great, I could get the setting and a band for the same price as the other solitaire setting I was looking at.

I think Vatche will actually set the diamond for you. You would just have to call GOG and at least IDJ and compare prices- then you can go from there. I'm pretty sure though that both DS and Sna had their diamonds set at Vatche, their offices are in NYC. Armywife, I do think that the U113 is a gorgeous setting, I would definitely consider it!! The Swan is so pretty too, but if you are wanting to wear a wedding band flush with your OEC, then I would reconsider, as the construction of that particular setting wouldn't allow it.
eta: Bliss also had her stone sent to Vatche for setting. She went through IDJ, as did Sna. I believe DS went through GOG. |

Thanks for the info, I will look into it once I get this rock paid off. Haha. But at the price point of 1500 I could definitely get it set right away after I have the diamond paid off
What do you guys think of this one? I have a soft spot in my heart for sharp, ointed prongs http://www.victorcanera.com/jewelry/six-prong-solitaire-with-old-european-cut-diamond.html It kind of reminds me of the Swan though....so I don't think I could wear a name next to it, which could be a problem for me. |
| Re: Solitaire setting ideas for 3.62 oec |

Uhh...I dont LOVE that setting...the prongs are not delicate enough for me... too much metal or something
Plus, I think with VC you are going to be significantly out of your price range. I think he does do awesome work though.

I CAN go past 1500...infant my hubby gave me 6000 budget....but I am trying to stay on the lower end so that I can be good and keep the rest in savings. Every once and a while I do what is right.
haha. I wonder if Vatche would make the prongs sharper or more pointed for me. I know they prefer not to alter their settings... |

The Vatche U-1113is $1840 in plat. From GOG. And $1900 at ID. I'd vote for that setting too. So many options for bands!!

Thanks for the info! I actually just called and spoke to Linda at GOG. She said she would have to get a direct quote since it is larger than 3 ct. I am sure it will be close to what you stated. I agree, there are so many different options. I like the idea of the mix of an old cut diamond with a sleek solitaire setting. I think I might get a thin band with single cuts to wear with it. Yummmmy. |

If you want a plain solitaire I don't think you can do better. What impresses me most about this mount is that you can safely wear it with such a side variety of wedding bands, the donut and the height of the mount are just perfect.

I do appreciate and like this setting a lot. It is a classic setting, the only think I am worried about is if it would look good with the OEC. It is a very early OEC, so the symmetry isn't great and it has an off center cutlet. I personally love it, I think it gives it character and a personality....if that makes sense. Here is a link to the diamond, though this was prepolish...the link to the Gabbie halo has it post polish. Do you think it would look good in the vatche or would it be better to put in a setting like the julia? I feel like the Julia would play up the age of the diamond since it has a little but of an antique flare. Ughhh I need help. I am literally talking myself in circles. Stone alone(prepolish) http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/Jewelry/Loose-Diamonds/362ct-Loose-Old-European-Cut/14738104_zXhL4P#!i=1537152290&k=mjBnfpH |

Does anyone else have any suggestions for a setting? I think up to 2000 for a solitaire....if it is over 2000 I would probably do sidestones or a halo.

I've been dying to see pictures of your diamond, and WOW!!! I love it! For me personally, (and I love the Vatche setting), I like a vintage/antique style solitaire for your stone, but it's you who counts. There was a modern solitaire posted by FacetFire that looked amazing too!

SparklyOEC-I agree with you, I do lean towards a vintage/antique feel. That's part of why I have favored the Julia setting, it allows me to have a solitaire and still have a touch of antique. I do like the Vatche a lot, I am just concerned as to if it would work for my diamond. I am having a hard time finding a solitaire anywhere else that has a vintage feel. I know singlestone does, but i don't know if I am willing to spend 4000+ on a plain platinum solitaire. I know if I spent the full amount of what my husband said I could, I would be able to get a stunning ring....but I already spent so much on the diamond that I want to wait a few years before going for a huge, expensive setting.
Oh and if you want to seemy diamond post polish, here it is in the Gabbie setting: http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/JbEGSignatureSettingsandSpecia/Halos/The-Gabbie-Halo-Setting/15232017_cCzpHK#!i=1400931829&k=ztj8P55 I am having to live vicariously through these pictures until I have the diamond. Haha. |

Armywife, I think your stone would be better suited for a vintage/antique setting as well. It sounds like you've definitely decided not to go with the Gabby, in which case the pressure is off, and you can look for other settings, or go with the Julia down the road. From my understanding, you just have to let Grace know whether or not you want the Gabby, is that right?

| Re: Solitaire setting ideas for 3.62 oec |

You are correct, Junebug17. I had a momentary panic because they are going to list the setting for sale soon, so I needed to decide for sure if I wanted it. I think I am going to pass, mainly because it has the fishtail pave and I want microcurve pave. Also, when it was resized to my honking 8.25, the pave wouldn't go halfway around. I love the Julia, but my only concern is being able to wears wedding band with it, especially since I don't like curved wedding bands. I am just unable to find any other antique/vintage style setting! I dont know where to look. I guess I will either need to go with the Julia, vatche u113(which is more modern), or suck it up and drop more money for a singlestone setting. |
| Re: Solitaire setting ideas for 3.62 oec |

I think it looks beautiful in the Gabbie, but I like the way it looks better when it wasn't set, so I'd actually try to emphasize the cushiony shape it has to it. I hear you on trying to do the right thing by putting money in savings, but when you open the box to the finished ring, you want to be completely in LOVE with it, yes?
ETA: What I mean is, picture yourself opening the box to the finished ring and what do you see? (no offense intended) |
| Re: Solitaire setting ideas for 3.62 oec |

Well.......if we are talking about the dreeeeeam ring, you and I may have twins. I have talked to VC on and off for a few months about the Sophie bezel set like LGK'S. His pricing is very reasonable for the product you get. I also do really like the Julia, something about that setting always makes me come back to it...I can't figure out what it is. There were also a few from singlestone, but after getting quotes, I may need to start selling my extra organs on the black market to pay for those ha ha.

Oh ok, in that case you can relax a bit because you have time to look for other settings and think a little more about how much money you want to invest in the setting. I did a quick look and didn't really come up with anything either, but I'll keep looking - Pearlman's has some Beverly K settings you might want to take a look at, although IIRC many of her designs are halos. You're probably feeling a little overwhelmed by thinking about all of this! But hang in there, it will work out! |

Thanks, junebug17. It is a little overwhelming, I am just trying to find a good balance between the look I want and cost. Right now I think I am considering the VC sophie bezel, Julia from jbeg or vatche. Hmmmmmm... I do have plenty of time. I will have the diamond in my possession by August. Then depending on what setting I choose, it will be set between August and November. I am just trying to find out my options and start setting aside accordingly. With vatche it could be done in August, Julia in sept/oct, sophie would have to wait until november.

I am open to a spacer in between, but I am worried that the spacer will dig into the Julia setting because it kind of curves out and up...if that makes any sense. So the top of the spacer would be rubbing into the part that makes the scrollwork on the Julia. ETA: glad I won't be the only one selling organs

I gotcha - and I have to say, I love the Sophie, I swoon a little every time I see it- and I love the Julia too - in fact, there was a 1.65 set in the Julia on the website and I swear I was seriously considering it mainly because of the setting! It was sold recently though, and I'm so curious as to whether a PS'er bought it. |
| Re: Solitaire setting ideas for 3.62 oec |

I wonder who bought that one too, it was a great deal. The only thing I didn't quite like with that one is that it looked like they tried to put a slight knife edge on that one. |
| Re: Solitaire setting ideas for 3.62 oec |

That's a wise, well-grounded way to do it (balancing setting budget & savings). Since you have time, keep looking. While it would be nice to set the diamond immediately, it isn't necessary. Is this your forever ring or do you plan to reset later? |
| Re: Solitaire setting ideas for 3.62 oec |

If I got the VC, it would definitely be its forever home. The Julia would also probably be a forever setting. With the vatche, i am unsure, I am not sure how I would liked with the OEC. It looks stunning with RBs, but I'm not 100% on how it would be with a wonky OEC. |

I have never seen that one before, it is really pretty! I like how the basket goes up almost all the way to the girdle. |
