It really depends on a case by case basis of how the stones are cut. For example, a deep round will face up smaller than a shallow radiant, cushion, pear, etc. Many here think that oblong shapes such as oval, pear, etc. face up larger. However, many oblong shapes like cushions, emeralds, and radiants are cut deep and thus don''t face up large.
Personally, I would just get what you want and then find a well-cut stone. Although many fancies face up smaller they are usually less expensive, so it sometimes evens out in the end. |
