Setting the ACV Cushion Diamond I just impulsively bought

Ive done a little reading on this site and like to look at the picture that people post so i thought this would be a good place to ask for advice about a setting. I just ordered this diamond on line pretty impulsively:

its a .76ct ACV G color IF

I'm hoping its not too small.. i wanted to get more towards the 1.0ct but that diamond seems so perfect. I also noticed that AVCs seem a little larger (comparing dimensions) to equivalent ct modern cut cushions.. so i went for it. I also know that she likes the "halo" setting and has a small finger 4.25 to 4.5 so figured it doesnt have to be massive. Its easy to get carried away when looking at all the pictures online of massive diamonds. I considered the K color 1.18ct diamond for 2K$ more, but was afraid it would look too yellow sitting in a white gold halo setting. this was my other option, I'm sure i could swap them out if I wanted.

shows lots of halos.. and those rocks look huge..

anyways what do you guys think about the rock size in a halo setting. WIll it be too small?? Im so impulsive... What halo settings do you suggest in the 1.5-2k$ range.

Hi OP, it's so sweet of you to go to her pinterest board to see what see likes! I looked through a few images and found the one where she says it's exactly what she wants. It's a round solitaire with a delicate diamond shank and 4 prongs in white metal. Good news, the diamond center is not super big, prolly under a carat. I think you should take the cue from this pin the most and get her what she really desires, as you come across as a super thoughtful albeit spontaneous kind of guy.

Good ol Gold is a wonderful vendor and should be able to create something to blow her mind! Good luck.

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure how pintrest works, but I think she re-pins things without changing the original captions. So those comments are most likely from the original pinner. So judging that there are way more "halo" settings i think that would be the way to go. Also remember one time when we were in a jewelry store getting a watched resized she pointed out a halo ring that she said she really liked. If i do go solitaire I might have to go for the bigger rock! Because i think the slight yellow on a pave solitaire setting is rather breath taking.

OP - while I do like AVCs, looking at your GF's Pinterest board, the majority of rings show modern cushion diamond/modern round brilliants in contemporary halo ring settings -- unless you are certain she really wants a vintage-style diamond, maybe return the AVC and ask Good Old Gold for their recommendations re: eye-clean square-ish modern cushions in G-I colors within your budget - they have a nice Signature Modern Cushion line as well as other modern cushions available.

As another option, BrilliantlyEngaged (formerly Engagement Rings Direct) has a couple of modern cushions and a setting that I think fits with your GF's Pinterest board (and, if you like, the ADA setting can be made in rose gold which figures prominently on your GF's Pinterest board):

I do like that setting you posted. Im going to stick with an AVC as I know she will absolutely love it. Im not going to put too much weight on her pintrest posts as im sure they were done on a whim by her while browsing about. She probably has no idea what a AVC cushion is to even know she loves it but she loves vintage things and after viewing the AVC cut, everything else just looks mehh... I know she will love it. its not the cut im worried about, but weather i should go bigger or not.

Thats a very good idea actually.. I thought about other than white gold.. but thats probably the hardest thing to choose is the metal color. she probably would love it its really tough!! Trying to keep the element of surprise... else i would just ask her

Yellow gold would work too. But from her pins I'd do rose or white

My choice would be the K then too. I prefer the aset and is images and the larger size is quite stark. Your intended seems to love the vintage/romantic look. I love the rose gold suggestion. I like the overall look will be absolutely stunning! Please keep us posted. I'm glad you know what your gf likes/tastes, that helps a lot.

What gorgeous stones! I would definitely vote for the K. They are both lovely, but that extra size will make a big difference on her hand, and I think the K would be fantastic in RG.

For another idea with GOG, there is the Vatche 'Grace'- it is based on the Tiffany legacy and I fall over every time someone posts one here- not sure if it would be available in rose gold. I know you can get yellow.

Noticeable size difference. I also like the outline of the K better. I have a K antique cushion cut in white metal and I think that would be fine if you choose to go that route. Any side tint would be hidden by the halo anyways.

I don't like the rose. I would vote for the two-tone (although I think all yellow gold would look very luxurious and beautiful so that has an edge over the two-tone) or the last setting (white gold or plat?)

This is not an easy decision

I feel bad "stalking" her pinterest sense I don't know her, but I looked again and she does have,recently,a fair amount of yellow gold jewelry.... and there is specifically a yellow gold halo pinned.... Plus if she's the person in the avatar,I can't make her out much but her skin tone would be flattered by yellow gold,from the little I can see. (I promise I'm not getting nosey!)

And the yellow gold is absolutely the most flattering. I'd even leave the prongs yellow, probably

Oh wow! The two-tone one looks so romantic!! It gives it a unique spin.

The AVC also looks great in the Tacori 2620, too. And I think you can request it in your choice of gold colour. Jon has several videos up on youtube showcasing that combination.

I, too, looked at your fiancee-to-be's pinterest page, and I noticed that she had a couple of pins from Pricescope on there.

So there's probably a chance (possibly a very good chance!) that she will see this thread and see her own Pinterest page listed here and definitely know this is for her!

Just wanted to mention this in case you wanted to keep it a surprise.

And I love the stone and I vote rose gold as well, though I think yellow gold would be a winner also.
