Yes, I think so. 2.5mm is still a very thin band relatively speaking. I do think 2.5-2.8 or so will look more proportional on her finger and be less likely to bend out of shape as well. There have been problems reported with some bands under 2mm.

I am also a size 8. I thought a 2.5 would be too thin for me but it was actuakky quite nice. It was dainty without making my giant mitts seem even bigger.
