Can resizing a plat band hurt the strength of the metal?

Not if done right. I had the same question answered by a jeweler, and he said in the case of a resizing to larger, or to smaller, both procedures should have NO problem. The stregth of the metal does not change, only the craftsmanship, if it's not done properly...

Do the diamonds have to be unmounted to resize?

What if there are channel settings?

Are we assuming any jeweler or the original fabricators?

Just had my platinum ring resized and because it was so well made (gotta love Whiteflash!

) and thick it needed to be Laser Welded for sizing. The laser weld doesn't heat up like a normal bench torch does and thus you do not need to take out the diamonds in your band if the high heat is needed. Hope this helps.
