It is their setting and only they will know for sure. I''ve had simple bands resized 2+ sizes with no negative effects. I have an amazing jeweler I have used who does wonderful repair jobs and makes sure that the ring stays round and all side stones are secure. She has had to add metal to the shank to help achieve it on a vintage piece I bought though. Sizing down is "nicer" in that respect. So my shank is now thicker but it wasn''t too thick to begin with. I am not implying that Excel is not a good jeweler with that statement though. Please do not take it that way. I would just listen to them and if need be you could consider putting sizing balls in to help make up for a difference. |
