There is an Indian manufacturer who refuses to have anything to do with grading labs; their in house lab is head and shoulders above any other so called independant lab.
Only one lab, GCAL, states they certify diamonds - the others mainly state they grade them - like -dont sue us if we get it wrong. And they do. We her did a study a few years ago and none of 16 stones got the same grade from 3 labs we sent them to. It is under the Reviews up the top tool bar. Idex did a study with about 10 stones a few months back to most of the labs - in my spare time i will tabulate it and post it here if they give me permission. They did about 7 labs and had dissatrous results of 4 colour grades difference on some stones!!!! So if a store has a real reputation to uphold, there is nothing wrong with inhouse grading. but many stones that do not go to labs - well - there is a reason.
