I went to pick up my engagement ring at Whiteflash last Friday afternoon.

A neat story, first: I had to stop by a shoe store by the Galleria for a quick purchase and as I was leaving the store, I ran into my college roommate who is one of my best friends in the world. He was actually just taking a short-cut through the parking lot, and I flagged him down. It was his day off, so I asked him if he wanted to run an errand with me.

So anyway, we head over to Whiteflash together. First, I looked at the pendant. They had cleaned up the heirloom diamond beautifully and the necklace looked amazing. I was quite impressed with their work.

But, we all know why I was really there -- the engagement ring. I saw the box sitting on the desk and was getting increasingly curious as to how it was going to look.

Let me preface this by saying that I was expecting to be pleased with the engagement ring. From my experiences on here, I know that WF does good work, and I had just seen the diamond pendant they made and was pleased with it. But, I am also a pretty picky person, and I was expecting to be pleased, but it wasn''t going to surprise me if I maybe had a few concerns or maybe I was a tad nervous buying a ring in a setting I had never actually seen in person. Basically, I was ready to nitpick if necessary.

Well, I opened the box and was absolutely stunned. My buddy and I both said, "Wow!" I can honestly say that the ring was everything I had hoped for and more. Just absolutely perfect. I immediately felt a sense of pride that I had purchased this and was going to give it to my girlfriend. Immediately, I knew that she was going to be absolutely floored when she sees it, and I also immediately knew that I was going to be proud of this purchase for many decades to come. That was one thing that was important to me -- I wanted to buy something that I could look at 20-30 years from now and still be proud of. This ring definitely fits that description.

My buddy and I gawked at it for a while longer and rounded up all of the accessories that come with a H&A diamond and were on our way. I must have looked at it another ten times on the way home. Every red light or stop sign I came to, I stopped and pulled it out again to admire it. A lot of times you have "buyer''s remorse" when making such a large purchase, but I have absolutely none. I am just trying to wait to give it to her. It''s tempting to spring it on her right now, but I really want to wait another week or two....

Anyway, no pics for now (sorry). I should be getting some soon from WF, and I will also probably take several myself when the time is right. For now, the only people who have seen this ring that are not affiliated with WF are my best friend and my father. I''m going to keep it in hiding for now, because I want her to be the next person to see it. By the way, I was also amazed at my dad''s response. I think he was somewhat skeptical about me taking care of this purchase on my own and was unsure about how I would fare. But, when he opened the box, he had the same response. He said, "Son, this is a great stone -- you did really well." That meant a lot to me.

Anyway, I''ll post another thread when all this is said and done with lots of eye candy -- just thought I would give an update in the meantime.

I''ve gotta make myself stay off of here at work, but I just had to reply to this post! These happy stories is what hooks us on this forum!

Can you maybe give us a clue like which setting did you choose from the WF site, or was it totally custom?

It sounds like you did a great job...and boy are you lucky to be able to access WF locally! Hurry up and give it to her so we can see the pictures! Lol!

Crap, I just realized that I bought a stone with a thin girdle. I am going to regret that? I thought I had found the perfect stone for me...

Someone give me some peace of mind.

No, thin, medium, and slightly thick are the most desirable. It is very or extremely thin that are not desirable.

Whew! Glad that was only short-term panic!

ACA stones are likely always safe!
ETA: (You changed what you had on that post when you added the bottom info, and I am thinking it was G color and an ACA, but I might have that wrong).

Yes, it is a G/SI1 ACA.

Sorry, I had some trouble posting those pics and went through numerous iterations.

Funny story Zeppelin...I picked out that exact stone along with another one to compare for my gf (fiancee''s) e-ring. When I called Whiteflash to speak to Leon who was going to compare the two stones for me, he had some bad news...some guy had come in earlier that day and bought one of the stones that I was going to compare. I guess it was you!

oh well, I ended up picking the other stone (obviously) and am still very happy, but you got a wonderful stone so congratulations.

Is that your stone in the previous photo or just a sample?

I am also having mine set in the tiffany style knife edge, will post picks when I hopefully get it this week.

Congrats again (and no hard feelings

You will be very pleased with your ring.
I know, and seeing your ring only reaffirms this!

Congrats again!
