Hi Everyone,
The more I look into cushions again, I cannot make up my mind.
If I could please ask for your help/opinion on the following cushions:

Antique cushion from VC:
http://www.victorcanera.com/diamonds/qyj0eh

H&A cushion from BN:
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD04403045

Antique vs. H&A - cushion
1.611 vs. 1.65 - ct
Both H - color
VS1 vs. VVS2 - clarity
1.025 vs. 1.008 - L/W ratio
AGS 000 vs. Ex. Symmetry and Polish, BN Sig. Ideal
H&A has GCAL cert also, if that helps
VC has CA sales tax, which makes it $500 more than the BN

Thank you!

First, which one does your lady prefer. They are very different. And a woman who wants an antique cushion will NOT be happy with a hearts and arrows. And a woman who wants a hearts and arrows will not be happy with an antique cut.

And a woman who wants a generic modern cushion will not be happy with either.

That said:

You don't compare carat weight with cushions. You compare spread.

The Hearts and Arrows is:
6.86 x 6.80 x 4.84 mm
The Antique cut stone is:
6.88 - 6.71 x 4.64

So they are visually the same size pretty much, except one is a rectangle and the other is a prefect square.

Clarity is irrelevant.

Stones are pretty much equal in every way.

What matters is what the wearer prefers.

What you are asking is: Which is better chocolate or strawberry. Both. Neither. Either Or. is the answer. It could be vanilla: a generic modern cushion.

If you are considering only those 2 cushions - are you buying the ring setting from Victor Canera too? If so, I believe he offers a discount on the setting if you are buying both a center stone and setting.

I do agree with Gypsy above that these 2 cushions are quite different in "look" - while there are people who do like both antique-style and H&A cushions (including me), usually a cushion-lover will prefer one over the other particularly when it comes to an ER.

And if you want to see examples of modern cushions, take a look at BrilliantlyEngaged's Mark T Modern Cushions (http://www.brilliantlyengaged.com/mark-t-cushion-diamonds/) and GOG's Signature Modern Cushions (http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamondR...=&dateMax=&inHouse=3&resultsColumns=268451919)

I love the Victor but it really is a personal preference.

Does your GF like round brilliants? Does she like seeing arrows in stones? Or does she prefer big chunky flashes of color/light?

They are both really pretty!

Thank you all for the input so far. My GF is excited about the H&A more than the other cushions out there.
There was another cushion H&A that I accidentally filtered out.

new consideration: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD04332025
one from original posting: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD04403045

What do you think between these two?

1.5 vs. 1.65 ct
[6.64 x 6.60 x 4.66] vs. [6.86 x 6.80 x 4.84]
G vs. H color
VS2 vs. VS1
$300 more for the 1.5ct

I have the 1.65 "on hold" for now. Size, color, and clarity are all important to me and her... I can't say which is more important than the others though. How would you approach this?
Also, why is clarity irrelevant? Is it because the stones are H&A? Or will be eye clean at these clarity ratings anyways?

Thank you!

I'd take the bigger stone. Easily.

I'm so happy you got her input. See how great that certainty is? Now you'll know she'll love it!
