Hi all,
after going to a few jewellers so that i could see the rock in hand rather than basing it off videos and photos online, i've settled on this oval:

0.97 FIF Oval Brilliant
7.81 x 5.61x 3.51 mm
Depth 62.6%
Table 60%
Pavillion Depth: 45.57%
Crown height: 13.06%
Girdle: slightly thick
polish: ex
Symmetry: ex
Flouresence: None

Physically the diamond was beautiful with a tiny minimal grey area where most bow ties would be.
However i'm just wondering, do ovals when unset, exhibit less bowtie as more light could enter from all angles? Would i be expecting a dark bow tie to appear once it is set? (probably just a simple 4pronged wire basket setting)

Thanks everyone!

It shouldn't be noticably worse. If the stone is well cut, 4 prongs
Shouldn't make a difference. Its mostly an issue with poorly
cut stones that get bezeled. Do you have any close up pictures of
the stone?

Hi OP, my feeling is that you will see it a little more when set, but also more because one tends to focus on such things. Someone else looking at the whole ring may not at all, but be just blown away by the beautiful sparkle. So, just try to see the overall effect if you are happy with the way the loose stone looks/specs.

From a distance, it looks to be a pretty stone with a minimal bow-tie. Ask the jeweler if he has any settings that he can just
"set" it on so you can have a look.

Edit - it looks really huge in that picture!
