And the After

No before photos of the stone, and it's still with Brian Gavin.
It was finished on Monday, but since I still can't figure out what to do with it, I finally asked them to go ahead and send it to me. Still toying around with the idea of setting it in a three-stone ring, with pear sapphire sides for my right hand. Brian Gavin confirmed that it's eye clean and would be suitable in a ring (it's an H color, SI2). |

It turned out great!!! My 1 ct. stone ended up at .80 after recutting, so yours was even better! I think you'll be so pleased! I am looking at halo rings right now to reset mine, as a matter of fact!

Laila: Here are the numbers
BEFORE Depth: 61.4% Table: 62.7% PA: 41.7 CA: 34.5 LGH: 79% AFTER Depth: 60.2% Table: 57.2% PA: 40.9 CA: 33 LGH: 77% Oh, and it went from 6.4mm down to 6.3mm...not too shabby! Diamondseeker: Just read that you're resetting out of your pendant. I was struggling with pendant vs ring, but I think I would get more use out of the RHR. Can't wait to see what you choose! |

Wow, what an improvement!!! Not much loss in size, either - I'm always amazed at these re-cuts, it's like magic! Just great!

Picked up the diamond today, and wanted to share a few photos of my new and improved stone! Sorry, my photography is terrible...but I can assure you it's quite beautiful.

Thanks everyone! I'm really happy with the results
Now, if I could only decide what to do with it... |

Hi Gypsy, good question.
Before the cut, it only sparkled "sometimes"...and looked kind of dead in the center, especially outdoors. Obviously, my husband and I knew nothing about diamonds when we purchased it 11 years ago - just color, clarity and weight. (Wish I had taken some photos before I sent it off as the transformation is so interesting). When I unwrapped it from the packaging this morning, of course, I knew it was going to be superior to the "before"...but I could tell right away that it had so much more "life". It catches all the light and now it just twinkles!!! Plus, it's really smooth from being polished. I'm really looking forward to setting it into a RHR so I can enjoy it now and wear it proudly, since it was my original engagement diamond. |

GREAT information, what's your setting budget. And you said a three stone with sapphire pears? I think that would be beautiful.

As for budget, I'd like to keep it to 2K max. If I go with pear sides, I've decided on blue sapphires - I was thinking yellow, but now I think blue would set the center stone off better, and look best in white gold. I'm also thinking about doing a bezel around all three stones for added protection and ease of wear on right hand.

Oh I like that. Nice blue sapphires-- you can get in touch with Simply sapphires and ask them what they have that they recommend, their prices are really good and I think that if you source your own you might save some money.
Do you like larger or smaller proportional side stones? |

Which look do you prefer:

Hi Gypsy,
Thanks for letting me know about Simply Sapphires - I hadn't thought about sourcing my own stones! I definitely like the smaller sides. I was thinking of about .20-.25 with the .91 center stone for a nice contrast. |

It looks amazing! James Allan has a really nice stock three stone with sapphire sides for a good price, the mount is a la Tiffany.
