I actually saw this - 1 Carat Tiffiny ring today in person.... (I have tried to attach the file - lets hope is did attach) On the finger of a person at work, and one that I am on good terms with (at work). She is rather excited. She did let me hold it and look at it in detail. I wil admit that it is hard to read the Tiffany stamp - but it was there.
I take it that it is exactly the ring you are talking about. I was unaware that it cost $5800. I will note the following about the ring. In an office setting with flouresent lighting the diamond had some sparkle (or life) but was not nearly as good as several others at work (in the same lighting) - but I will admit a whole lot better than most of them at work. I thought the sapphires were rather dead. Normally I would expect to pay arround $6500 for a 1 carat G, VS, ideal cut diamond with great light return (Ideal scope image, etc). So that I would not specifically state that $5800 would be overpriced (especially given the setting and the sapphires). Are you sure of your prices? Just because you can find a similar graded diamond for less (not counting the setting and side stones), does not mean it is worth buying.... at least to me. I want light return.
