Help selecting a diamond please. I've chosen the setting.

Hello everyone,
I'd appreciate some help picking a diamond for a setting I've already chosen. I'm a perfectionist which is how I stumbled upon Pricescope.

Here is the setting
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/halo/platinum-falling-edge-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-item-49997

My budget is between. 5k-8k for the diamond. I'd like to stay closer to 7k.
My soon to be fiance likes a cushion cut diamond.

For sake of ease I'd probably stay with JA for the diaomond since that is the setting she picked.

Can someone recommend a few diamonds to fit this setting?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion Ric. I'm just now seeing the ideal proportions and will focus on that.

Yup. This is a hobbyist forum - you'll get the best results doing some homework on your own first, and we'll happily help you sort your way through to the cream of the crop from there ::)

Here's a thread (cushion, similar budget, shopping at JA) that will help you get started:

Todd's link is not going to be of much help in your hunt for a cushion, but it's worth reading through to pick up some background on prioritising cut/carat/clarity/colour, etc. Next step is to do some PS searches for "choose a cushion" and read through some articles/threads. Here are a few more with excellent info:

Thanks Yssie.

I had done quite a bit of research weeks ago but I'm now getting back at it. Thanks for each of those threads. I'll be back.

I'll throw a few out there. JA gives you 3 asets on local stones. Wait until you get feedback from PSers before you order them.

Here is a start for you...

These are BEAUTIFUL choices. Great job tyty! All of them are winners, but the G is the one I like best (spread and facet pattern).

I looked, and tyty's choices are the best ones available. I prefer the G, personally. But just to give you an idea of what else is out there. In order of preference:
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.40-carat-h-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-597630
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.40-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-sku-597177,,,
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.24-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-sku-597671 if eyeclean

H will be perfectly fine in that setting.

That said, please remember when comparing cushions for size do not compare WEIGHT. Compare spread (dimensions).

You now have 6 stones to chose from, and all of them are lovely. There is no bad decision! :wavey:

I like one with more equal length sides for an e-ring, especially in a halo setting setting. I like the shape of these over a more rectangular one.

I am hesitant on the pave on the side of that curved halo. I think when she hits the ring on something, those stones are really vulnerable. I'd really recommend one more like this:

Thanks for the suggestion on the setting. The one you suggested is probably a better fit for a cushion.
