Help picking a stone for an engagement ring

Thanks, I don't recall seeing that post so ill take a look. About how much would you guys estimate a solitaire setting in 14k or 18k should cost? Platinum isn't of interest.

Gypsy, I'm not sure if you're still around but is there a Bay Area jeweler you've worked with that you'd highly recommend? I'm pretty frustrated right now.
