Having trouble finding my perfect diamond

I am realizing now that finding my perfect diamond may take longer than I had thought...

I am looking for a round brilliant just under 3ct, F, SI2 with excellent cut, excellent polish & symmetry and GIA cert. I also want it to fit within the ideal depth and table percentages.

Am I being too picky?? I had done a lot of searching online and I haven''t come up with much that matches my description. Would I be better to pay a bit more and go through a local jewelry store that will have their buyer locate the diamond for me?

How long did it take you to find your perfect diamond?


*I sent out for quotes from trusted dealers on PS and I haven''t heard back [that matched my description exactly]...but maybe that takes a few days..

Diamonds of this size are harder to come by, especially ones which are well cut so it can take a little while to find the right stone.  Your best bet is probably to work with a trusted online vendor and see what they can come up with, give it a couple of business days for them to answer an email then if you get no response, telephone.  Sometimes emails get misplaced due to filters to following up by telephone is normally a good idea if you haven''t heard back.

From the sound of it, you''re attempting to find an "under the wire" stone.
Theoretically, a 2.95 cost a lot less than a 3.00.
An SI2 is less than SI1- and a lot less than VS2.
F is still colorless, yet there''s a nice savings compared to a D.
Hypothetically speaking, a 2.95 F/SI2 could be visibly identical to a 3.00 D/IF, yet there is a hypothetical massive difference in value.

I''d say that it''s highly unlikely you''ll find such a stone- especially an eye clean SI2.

my suggestion would be to allow vendors to find you stones of a certain price, that might appeal to you. Maybe a G/Si2 3.00.
I''d also remove the "ideal table and depth percentages" and instead consider potential stones of EX and VG cut grade, if they are GIA graded or AGS0 and 1 cut grade.
