Thanks for the reply. I have seen the stone and I do like it. It has "ideal" for polish and symmetry on the AGS cert, so thats good. I guess my biggest concern is the inclusion...I mean its really only the one, but why an SI1? Also, the cert mentions "surface grading lines not shown." I understand this isn't that big a deal, but I'm not sure.

You seem to have perfected your search. It ought to be a great diamond. I am concerned a little with how you worded the "eye visible" nature of the clarity.
Is the diamond "eye-clean" Except for the crystal under the table? This sounds a little like a fast dealer talking. If you can see that crystal with your eyes, then the entire diamond is not eye clean. If you mean that all there is is a small crystal and nothing visible to the naked eye, then that's just fine. I just want to make you aware of either how you worded it, or how someone may be attempting to fudge on you a bit. David S. Atlas, GG(GIA) Sr Mbr(NAJA) ASG(AGA) http://datlas.com/services/ |

Pricing is fair & graining should be no big deal, unless it's very distinct. But at that point it would be impairing the clarity. However, I am not too sure whether the crystal is visible to the naked eye. Can you see it, knowing where to look? This would play a major role if I was in your shoes... Personally, I don't mind a little inclusion, but I know it does drive a lot of folks nuts. So, if you can see it, think twice about that and maybe consider a G-H stone in the VS range. All in all, the stone you've selected has killer numbers and looks like a winner, ONLY if either you can't see or don't mind the little spot.

That stone sounds beautiful, and I'll bet it's totally eye-clean! Some people have said that AGS has the strictest grading around... and my own experience seems to confirm this. My AGS-certed stone is VS2 and my jeweler said it looks like a VS1 or even a VVS to him. I know I have looked at it myself (many times!) under 10x, 30x and even a microscope, and have YET to see any inclusions!!!

Thanks everyone! I saw the stone again, and it was near impossible to see any inclusion. At times, I thought I saw something and then I would lose it and not find it again. This made me feel confident about the visible clarity of the stone. I have decided to look into a G-VS2 just to see what the price difference is, but I guess I kinda like the fact that this stone is an F color. At the end of the day, whether g-f or SI1 or VS2, the stones will probably near identical assuming a get a good cut.
