I just wanted to make a quick listing to all pricescope forum readers to let you guys & gals know that I just got engaged and I am in bliss. I couldn''t have made it here without pricescope''s information, listings, and education. After educating myself for almost three months I finally made the purchase of a .81ct F SI1 Queen of Hearts diamond in a classic tiffanies setting. The blank knock-off came with the newer contempory V-prong (picture frame corners) head to firmly set square shapes. I think it shows too much metal, but my jeweler was happy to split the prongs with his buzz saw and rework the head so that from top-down view, you see double-prongs, much like a deer''s hove (spelling?), but the the up-posts are still one piece. I need to take a picture still... its beautiful. I just wanted to add my suggestion for all you Southern Californian shoppers. My first business contact was with Jonathan at GOG in New York. What a great guy and a great website, I would never hestitate to refer anyone to GOG for a respectable business venture. But I wanted the long term investment of a local jeweler, so I made for the Jewerly District in Los Angeles. What a joke, I''m sure that there are some good people out there, but with over 300 stores, good luck finding one. I went three times with referals, didnt like the atmosphere. I ran into so much confusion over the correct cut dimensions of a brilliant princess I finally gave up and decided to invest the extra money into buying a branded diamond, the Queen of Hearts by Cary Horowitz, (funny there''s now a commercial for it on pricescope homepage). It was a good decision. I''m close to Riverside, and I emailed Cary for a retailer anywhere from San Diego to Ventura. I was directed to Fine Jewelry Works in Ventura owned and operated by George Fox a good man who doesn''t even check his email or know about this forum! Much like Jonathan at GOG, George never once made the experience a pressure buy and was always upfront about his inventory and was willing to work around budgets. The man is a traditional jeweler, GIA academy, and custom metal smith to create any dream piece for his customers. I just want to make people aware that I think he is a great jeweler to go to if you are looking for one. His phone number is (805) 648-3747, I believe I can list that kind of information here. I learned so much from pricescope, just wanted to let people know what I found out in return.
