I have an emerald cut, with bar set sidestones, round and baquette and a band with 5 shared prong round diamonds. Sometimes the emerald looks very dark and gray in pictures, could this be that it is a bad quality stone???

Cheri,

Even the most beautiful, Ideal cut round diamonds look dark and gray in "most" pictures.

Photographing diamonds is EXTREMELY difficult.

The real question - how does the diamond/ring look in person?

I asked this question before and got a pretty scientific answer. I think it was in regards to the ring Camilla got from Prince Charles. It''s a honker and I''m guessing well cut and a nice stone, but it always shows up so dark. If will try to find the thread containing this, but you may try a search about Camilla''s ring. This is one of the properties of EC stones though, and doesn''t mean you have a bad one!
