E-Ring Solitaire design simple but different suggestions

I'm looking for suggestions for a 3 ct solitaire ring and has to have the following criteria:

1) It looks plain from top where only the stone can be seen. No pave on the band, no halo, and no additional stones

2) But when you look at the ring from the side, there is something different....so far I want to go along with a pave basket.

3) The ring shouldn't sit too high since it's heavy on top

I would like some suggestions for the basket or bottom portion since my original design the jeweler failed me and I want to get the 2nd one right. The ring doesn't need to be all blinged out since the focus is on the solitaire stone.

Thank you,

Stan

If you like the Julia why not just get that through LAD? It seems that was your top choice. Erica is great to work with and she can make any alternations to the original design you want.

I think the Julia is gorgeous, however this ring is for my gf and she doesn't like the bottom portion of it so I'm trying to figure out another design.

I would just like other suggestions to inspire or create something all together

I posted this in your other thread in SMTB, just copying it here as well - I see other posters have already mentioned some of the designers I was thinking of but editing is a total PITA on the phone...

I'm very glad to hear that you'll be working with a different jeweller for this project!

Here are some other rings that IMO have a similar "look and feel":

I think the Vatche Caroline is an outstanding, classic, quality choice. It has the diamonds on the basket and the diamond sits fairly low. Good Old Gold was able to get my Vatche setting in less than 2 weeks. It will allow a diamond wedding band with it, too. Good Old Gold, WhiteFlash, and ID Jewelry all carry Vatche. You may be able to access the brand in a local store as well. The price will be a little higher than whatever posted prices you can find online since your stone is 3 cts. So you will have to call for a price quote. (I like some of the other rings posted on the thread, but many are going to simply require a much longer wait, such as Mark Morrell.)

*** Also, ask for the ring to be made with either 95%platinum/5%ruthenium or 90%plat/10%iridium as these are both more durable than the standard alloy. I did not have to pay extra for this.

Here is a picture provided by WF with a 2 ct stone:

Stan, I also want to warn you that a lot of places close for a week or two in July, so I would try to make a decision like today to have a chance to get the ring finished when you want it.

Oh, I forgot about the short timeline. Yes... generally custom work + deadline = generally not a promising combination. There is just no such thing as "mission critical" in this industry - one of the benefits of working with luxury goods, I suppose! In any case I've found that with custom work having a reasonably fluid timeline really, really helps; if that isn't an option I'll ditto the recommendation of a stock setting like the Vatche DS and others have suggested.

Plain / simple? Different from the side? Low profile?

Tension setting all the way ;-)
