I noticed today when I looked at one of my little diamonds that when light is reflected off the facets of the crown, I can see at the edge of the crown upper girdle facets, like a doubling as though the crown has reflected upon itself, is this reflecting within the actual diameter of the diamond or do you know if it is reflecting out around the edge of the diamond? In other words is the diamond reflecting upon itself and just showing a reflection upon its facet further up the slope of the crown or is it reflecting into the air around the stone and making the diamond look bigger?
Can it reflect in the air or would this just be refraction or sparkle rather than reflections. Although I can see like a double round edge.
This is not looking into the stone only looking at reflections off the surface.
